White paint was pretty rare on E85/86s so maybe there's a reason for that?

The seat colour looks great but they're not M-Sport seats, and it's an Auto.

Looks like an expensive ownership experience for the seller but that's what happens when you buy from a trader, but I wonder why he is selling so soon?

Still it is low mileage and looks really clean underneath.

White is the colour for Japanese racing cars, red for Italian, silver for Germany and racing green for the UK which is why there are so many Japanese imports in white.

Those examples are from https://www.tc-v.com. The cars from there tend to be a tad expensive but show you the rough prices. The Z4 only seems to come as an automatic. If you want a Japanese import buy directly from a broker. I have used https://www.japancardirect.com/. On the top right go to the menu and click on vehicle engine search then have a good look through the different makes with gradings on their condition. Click on statistics and they will tell you the final auction price. This black one went for £4000, cheap but you have to add fees, shipping and tax

Looks like a Pioneer SPH-EVO950DAB-UNI2 to me. Pioneer head units in the Z4 are good in my experience. Probably a £550 upgrade (excluding labour.) Nice!

The stereo was probably changed because Japanese cars' radios don't work in the UK. They use a completely different system to us (or did when I bought a Jap import 25 years ago).

Not a different system but a different frequency range so much of the FM band wont work in the UK. They go from 76-95 whilst we go from 87-108

Believe it or not but grey, black and white are currently the most popular colours for new cars in the UK.

I wonder what the dealer ended up haggling the seller down to?

I think it was £6500 last time I seen the advert? I be the dealer didn't even pay that.

They've changed the registration plates, but that margin is absurd.

There's nothing like optimism, but I can't see a white Auto SE imported from Japan making that sort of money!

Dealer will have paid £6k ish.
Dealers all do the 'trying it on' initial asking price these days. They will 'need' to sell it for £8k, so gives them plenty of room for dropping the price, waiting months (or years?) for a sale, etc.
They may have even had to shell out on some £60 tyres; poor loves!

Funny you should say that. There was a car for sale linked on another forum for around £15k more than it was sensibly worth. It was realistically worth around £6k but sold for £21k (ish)!
Then it sold and clever old me called the buyers the most stupid people in Scotland.
Then the buyer joined the forum and posted on the thread! :lol:
