Z4 Coupe Clutch/ gearbox rattle

Hello , I have noticed many posts on the site concerning rattle coming from either clutch or gearbox which becomes worse when engine hot, and foot off clutch in neutral. I have recently bought a Z4 COUPE 3.0 19 K MILES and I have this problem the car is under warrantl till Dec 2011. It seem that this is a general fault on a lot of Z4 s any info appreciated ... has anyone managed to get this problem erradicated I would apreciate any info before I see the garage
 
Sorry - I posted something then realised I was talking nonsense so edited it out. Hope you get the rattle sorted. I just bought an auto coupe and the seemingly common rattle issue with the manual box was one reason why.

If you’re referring to a wobbly rattle that goes away when the clutch is dipped, then mine does this and its noticeably bad \ annoying. Had the car a year now and it’s a new noise in the past few weeeks.

Like you mines still under warranty, and actually at the dealer now being investigated.

They’ve already had it once and swapped the clutch release bearing to no avail.

I’ve also taken it to a indy specialist and they’ve said could be the layshaft bearing. Their opinion was it might be nothing and just a noise it will make, but as it was under warranty they said I might as well get it checked out to prevent a potential major issue later in life. Also seeing as it never did it and now does I want to try and get it fixed.

My Z4 does it but it doenst worry me as my Rx8 also done it from the day I bought that and I put nearly 60k miles on without issue.

I know a lot has been publicised on here regarding the noise. My concern stemmed from the noise being new after my year of ownership and the opinion of a very trusted BMW independent.

I got my car back on Friday after both the gearbox, clutch and clutch assembly had been replaced.
 
Took z4 back to garage they checked out gearbox rattle, they said it's a normal noise on z4 ... layshaft bearings, not really happy will run car for a few more weeks and see how it goes perhaps take it to another garage as warranty will be honoured by any main agent or indie .... has anyone had any progress on gearbox noises.
