Z4 Coupe Changes From 56 to 57

I recently owned a 56 plate Z4 Coupe but it got wrecked unfortunately.

I've just purchased a 57 plate and was under the impression they were the same however yesterday noticed the rear lights are different on the 57 plate! Started to look round the car and I'm sure the kidney grills look bigger or a different shape.

Just out of interest does anyone know any other differences between the models???

Umm if you had a coupe before and have a newer coupe now then the exterior will be identical bar maybe the colour and wheels!

57 had the airbag off option, isofix seats and aux in as standard... but the 56 coupe could be spec'd with the same.
 
as aquazi, i didn't think there was any difference in the exterior except the wheels
 
Sorry guys but wrong... definitely different lights, I have pics to prove it :) The 56 plate lights were circular and the 57 plate are not!

Yes agreed about the Ipod connector, I have the 108's so same from 56 to 57 I believe, both rot really quick!

Both coupes I have had were facelift models

my 56 plate doesn't have circular lights, so you might need to go by manufacture date

I suspect your 56 plate had non-standard lights then - perhaps off a roadster?
Did you buy it new or used?
AFAIK the coupes did not undergo any exterior revisions.
 
I brought it used from a non franchise dealer, the lights on the roadster do look very similar so that could be the answer, doesn't matter now as it's gone to the elephant graveyard in the sky :x but I was just interested

Even more gutted when after reading a thread on here I realised it had the top of the range Hi Fi system :x

I'll upload some pics later so you can see
 
I'm sure coupe and facelift roadster rear light are the same, must have been non oem, but as above we need pics.
 
The original BMW z4 Coupe Concept car had round rear lights, but afaik by the time it was in production they were flat like the facelift roadster. Would also be interested to see the pics!
 
It sure would be a unique rare animal if it had different lights ...
 
I did once see on the German Ebay site Prefacelift style rears to fit Postfacelift cars, but I've never been able to find tham again to post a link.

Could be possible but very very unsual.

How about before the accident? Was it the same as the 57 plate then :D
 
To have had the prefacelift lights would have required a prefaclift rear bumper.... and as for the different front grills?! would certainly need to have been modded with after market bits.
