Z4 coupe boot space

Weird question...but does anyone know if I could get a kitesurfing board in the back a coupe?

Wondering if it will lie lengthways...it's 140x30cm.

That has also crossed my mind! Has anybody ever strapped one of those soft roof racks to a coupe? Seriously?

I'm so torn as to what car to buy...I'm swaying between a coupe, a 30i sDrive and now also considering a 330i convertible in order to fit in the girlfriend +kitesurfing gear.

My wakeboard is 137. It doesn't fit lengthways (but my shorter wakeskate does). It fits in the boot resting behind the passenger headrest if you remove the bindings, and this way you can stack two on top of each other. If you only have to move one (and no passenger) and can't be bothered with removing bindings etc, the passenger footwell is the least fuss. y5eqasa3.jpg
Here's one of me at the Cable Park in Stockholm Arlanda.

Is it me or does it look like you are desperately trying to protect your crown jewels from those wires between your legs.....

So I take it there's a very thin gap over the rear boot divider when the boot is closed that you can slide a board through?

@tony: HA! Hadn't considered that. In fact, its a Frontside Heelside 540 - my right hand is desperately trying to catch the handle in my left hand! I used to wakeboard on almost a daily basis but severed my ACL at the Army Championships in September. Ouchy.

@benjy: Yeah, if you don't mind not having the luggage cover while your board is in. There's also enough space beneath the board for a decent sized bag of kit. Unfortunately I haven't got any pics of the board in the car.

When I was in college I drove a Fiat x19 and wanted to use my windsurfer after classes

I ended making a wooden roof rack that included the hardware from a roof I got from the wreckers

Being a targa top gave me the support for the heavy weight of those huge boards they had in the 80's which you don't have with the Z, but the weight would be much lighter

If you used the front mounting hardware from on an old roof, could you find a way to attach to the rear hoops?

Not like you care if the roof is down when you"'re off to go wake boarding. Although I did get caught in a downpour with the X19 once and had to bail out the foot wells

Good luck

Think you might ! I get 2 sets of Golf Clubs in mine,Not pencil bags. Stand bags. Also had my sons BMX in it too with the wheels removed.

I just bought an E89 sdrive....I took my surfboard with me to view the car and it'll go into the passenger side.....just! Have to open the roof, stick it in and then close the roof again!
