Z4 Coupe 3.0 drivers. What MPG are you getting??

Hi guys,

My 56 plate Coupe used to give me around 40 miles for every notch on the fuel guage when using Tesco Momentum 99 fuel, or to put it another way, I'd get about 250 - 270 miles from a full tank until the light came on. Lately it is using a hell of a lot more, especially when I put my foot down, it drinks it!! I'm getting about 200 miles to a tank now. Computer is showing about 22mpg around town.

I'm interested to hear what other people are getting out of their coupes? Its the first winter I've had it so I originally thought it was the cold weather but its warmed up now and its still guzzling! I've read it may be a lambda sensor fault. No ECU lights but I am gonna get it plugged in on the next service.

Interested to hear from you...

Cheers

Ian

Mine had an average of 27mpg, which was mainly driving slowly 4 miles to work (and then back again) and driving pretty fast on most other occasions.

Around 30mpg for me, mostly motorway.

However, was doing the 22 miles into work the other day, again mostly motorway, and got just over 40mpg !! :o

Wasn`t flying, but not Miss Daisy either, around 65-70mph all the way down the m-way........I couldn`t believe it !

I think BMW fitted a blo*dy diesel engine in mine by mistake !!

since I bought it in July 2010, 33.4 mpg
the computer has been higher and lower than the figure worked out from fuel used and mileage, but usually pretty close

not much town or motorway driving
between 12-23 December it only dropped to 30mpg, which is the lowest it's been for a tankful

edit: all but 1 or 2 tanks have been Shell V-Power

Thanks for your responses so far. Seems quite varied!! I wish I was getting in the 30s!! Even driving really conservatively I'm getting no where near 30!!

Gonna get mine checked out I think...

You seem to be getting M levels of fuel consumption on your coupe, so unless you've got a ridiculously heavy right foot it sounds like it's running rich for some reason...

If you are only doing town driving from cold nearly all the time, I can see how you would get 22mpg. I usually average 30 between town and other driving but if I was to reset the computer say when I fill up in the town, and only drive around in the town Id get 24/25. So if you are driving spiritly also I can easily see how you get 22.

Yeah, I agree, sounds like she's running rich :-(

Thing is, it definately changed from when I got it but I was driving harder when I got it than I do now and running pretty much the same journeys!!

I dont know how advanced the computer is on these but all my settings on the radio / computer / dash seemed to reset themselves a while ago. Can t say for definate that it was the same time so I dont know whether that could have a bearing on it or not. As a side point, when I get in it of a morning, my radio station changes from the one I was listening to the night before. Always seems to default to Classic FM! Dont know if this is a fault or if they all do it?

Cheers

my car as done just over 6000 miles in 18 months, 28 mpg average over that time

i have ocd, keep all petrol receipts and clock mileage etc

Over the last 4500 miles I have averaged 25.6 mpg (actual not trip computer)

Daily commute comes in between 22 and 25 depending on traffic (cold starts, start stop traffic, 7 miles)

Trip computer:

Motorway - sticking to 70 I can get 37 - 40 mpg

Motorway - normal driving 80 on the speedo but some times a little higher, get 32 - 34 mpg
