ok, forget the leaks, have I read that I can just go manual, what is it about releasing the pressure that makes it easier to put up and down, this dang thing is heavy, how do I make it easier to operate? Thanks in advance for any help, jr

Welcome to the forum, you haven’t said which Z4 you have, there’s also a good search function which may help you

its a 2003, I am trying to convert the convertible roof to manual operation due to a leak in the hydro lines, but the roof is very heavy I removed the lines from the pump thinking it would reduce pressure in the system but it did not, I have the red cable pulled out, how can I reduce the back pressure or what ever is creating the resistance to operating the roof manual?

Sorry, can't help other than to suggest you post in the relevant section of the forum - either the Problems section, or the Discussion section - both of which will increase the visibility of your post.

If the pipes are not connected to the pump then all lines are open and no pressure remains.
You are only left with the weight of the roof which you cannot reduce.
If the leak is only a pipe then why not simply replace it?

looks like you have to remove the top to replace it?
Depends which pipe is leaking? But you can do it by lifting just one side and threading a new pipe through.
