Z4 c - removing wheels - jack ???

Hi,

Am going to try and repaint the centre hubs behind the wheels and the brake calipers.
Would be easier to take wheels off.
But with run flats you dont get a jack etc.
Can I just use my Dads Astra Jack ?
Is there a section of the bottom sill that can handle the weight of the car ?
 
there's 4 jacking points,you should be able to see them,i think they're made of rubber :thumbsup:
 
angus, given that you will need to have the car in the air a while for painting I'd be inclined buy a trolley jack and better still some axle stands, for safety and ease of use - I did this the first time I needed to jack the car up. I bought a kit from Halfords which included a couple other bits as well.

Also worth having a look in Aldi and Lidl if you have either close, they often have deals on axle stands and the jacks, both at very good prices.

Once you have them you'll likely find you'll use them again.
 
Hi,
Ive looked at a few threads on web and am still a bit confused as to the location of the jacking points.
Are they on the bottom of the sills i.e.out of sight when stood next to the car....or are they on the side of the bottom sill ?

Would a normal scissor jack with a manual winder handle do the job with a block of wood to soften the contact ?

Yes, but I would urge you to consider my suggestion my the previous post.

If you do get the trolley jack just do a search on here for the central jacking point.

they're on the bottom of the sill,you can't miss them,two pieces of what looks like rubber :thumbsup:
