I have a xenon bulb on the front left which blew. So i put a new one in and it worked fine for a day (osram d2s) its now blown again!

Where can i start with this? the headlight looks like it has moisture in it or something?

Please help!

No idea :D but if they get blocked the headlights will mist up. I know its difficult to see in the little hole BMW made in the Z

My xenon headlight controller was replaced when the car was only a few months old (previous owner). Since I bought it this summer, I've had problems with one or the other headlights not coming on for a few days, and then it works again. BMW is supposed to replace the controller once again during my next appointment. Are you SURE the bulb is blown? If not, consider the controller problem. I thought my problem was the bulb, until it started working again 3 days after going out.

Two issues here . Firstly moisture. Forget about blocked vents - that won't happen. The most likely reason for moisture is a failed rear cover seal on the light, or a trapped wire. in it. Check it's seated, or buy a new cover for a tenner. There are threads on drying out lights.

As for the bulbs - they shoudl not 'blow' as they don't have a filament and will last the lifetime of the car, so the problem is likely elsewhere. First port of call would be the ballast that is bolted to the underside of the headlamp. Need to remove the bumper and take the ligh out to get to it.

Frankly unless you have access to a spare ballast and prepared to have the bumper on and off a few times then it's dealer time to diagnose.

Just realized they are xenons  oops

Probably as said then, either the igniter unit or ballast. But this may be one unit if BMW have changed them.

Not changed them. Ignition element is atttached to the rear of the bulb and control unit bolted to the underside of the headlamp unit
