Z4 boot light 2006

Hi everyone

Looking for a red boot light for my Z4 55 plate. I've read it's a common problem that this snaps in the middle due to too much tension with size of the springs. I'm after a replacement but dealers want £149 to order and fit! Anyone know of a cheaper way of going about this?

Thanks in advance

Liam
p.s - I'm a newbie so apologies if this topic has been covered but I couldn't find a related thread in the forums.

Agree with Ranski - easy job, just order the part and do it yourself. £149 is TTP  Just 3 screws and springs come with it, use them not the old ones as teh springs have been changed, don't overtighten when you put the new one on as that is one of the main reasons they crack.

All newbie's are welcome Liam but trying to sneak under the fence with a question won't exempt you  :)

Picture evidence of your Z with or without aforementioned faulty brake light is mandatory

Need deep socket (8 or 10 mm nut I seem to remember) and replace in less than 2 minutes.

I quite fancy changing mine to clear, which are cheaper then the red... Does it mean those who have a clear one have a cheapened the car :fuelfire:

as others have said, be careful not to do the nuts up too tight when you re-fit the new one.

i bought a clear one last april, and it has cracked already (a bit of the edge fell off).

:x :x :x

Mine cracked , but it was within 2 yr warranty and took back to BMWparts dept, replaced FOC ..result
