Z4 body is not steel?

My daughter got one me one of those fun magnetic stick-on signs for my car. I tried to put it on the rear deck, but it would not "stick". I tried other places in vain. Then I put it on my wife's 440i; stuck just fine.

Are the Z4s' bodies aluminum? I did not think so, but whatever the material is, it would not allow that magnetic to adhere.

Hmm, boot lid is made of SMC. Interesting. I thought the boot lid is same as door or bonnet which is made of Aluminum. But yeah, no panel to rust

SMC, is that what Trabants were made of?

Duraplast is what Trabby’s made the body out of…conceptually similar…G29s and Trabants

It was a low grade early composite made of phenolic resins and cotton amongst other things…

In Bulgaria where I was on operations for a while they used the old car bodies as flower beds on the edge of villages.. as they never decay.. :tumbleweed:
