Z4 Black Performance Grilles or not?

OK, So I ordered a pair of black grills from eBay ages back but hated them and sent them back as they were ill fitting, matte, and I just couldn't see them on the car until fitted which I had a devil of a time doing.

I'm now considering getting the proper BMW ones as they will likely fit OK, but I'm still uncertain what it does to the look of my car. I'm not sure if it makes it look a bit after-market if you know what I mean.

What do you think?

A definite yes from me

I've got them on my 1 series coupe and think they look much better.

I nearly got some as one of mine had a chip in the chrome plastic

I decided against as it may make the front end look too black and moody

Seeing your photoshop, does look good though

...and that is my concern. However I think the lower silver intake vents balance things up a bit perhaps. The 23i/30i doesn't have these and so yes the whole front end could look very black indeed.

Funny you mention this, the guys at the meet on the weekend shouted out as I left, that I should get a black girl, but I later realised they actually said black grills..... ...

So yes, they look really good on a white car. I looked at the price of an m sport bumper, with all the bits and bobs, unpainted, it's about £900....

Would look better if the silver sections of the bumper were blacked out too IMO..

Bit like this one.. Minus the lime green bits

I like the black on black look, although you would have guessed that from my old coupe :P

+1 - have to say that was my immediate reaction. I like the black on black look too though.

I love this car. This was my iPad desktop for a while. I want it

Maniac not enough contrast mate, I would be inclined to leave them off. If it were the M-Sport bumper then maybe they would look more in keeping but your car looks more sophisticated with the silver grilles.

Definitely black on black. But they're so easy to change that you can swop them over as your mood changes.

I don't know about the E89 but the E85/86 grill is in 2 parts so I sometimes have black slats in black surround and sometimes black slats in chrome surround.

I also have to say I prefer the original look, and have been looking at changing my own to silver/chrome which the 35i has as default.

I'm definitely not going all black on the front it looks way too after market for me. I'm not a fast and furious type. It's one pic or the other as a final approach for me.

All black is too fast and furious? When I think of I think of gaudy decals on the side of the car that adds 50hp.
