Hi, I am looking for a mint Z4 for around the 10 grand mark if anyone is thinking of selling. Would consider any 6 cylinder models.

Must be Auto though. My lady has test driven a couple and cant get the manual ones into reverse gear!

Cheers.

Hey, I couldn't get into reverse gear the first time I tried. Didn't want to damage anything. Even got the instructions out! :!:

I don't think 'Z4', 'auto' and mint' fit in the same sentence as £10k. I think you'll have to adjust your horizon a little, but good luck in the search

IMHO don't go for the 2.5 in the auto as it's feels very sluggish while the extra 500cc makes a significant difference - more so than in the manuals

Thanks for the info. I will go a little more for the right car.

Just thought i wuld try to source one on here as enthusiasts tend to look after their cars better.

I have been to look at some and they are not as described. Honestly i travelled to look at one at the weekend and i asked on the phone if there were any marks at all on the car, alloys etc and was told none at all, car is showroom. All 4 wheels needed a refurb. One was so badly curbed i would of scrapped it. I nearly twatted him!! :headbang:

As for the stiff reverse, i could get it in ok but my lady couldnt do it at all.

I'm afraid a lot of dealers and individuals over sell the condition of their cars, but you are right in that owners clubs probably have the best kept examples.

At your price mark you're looking at 2003 or perhaps 2004 cars, so expect the odd corroded alloy and paint mark. Pick faults that can be rectified - a corroded alloy can be replaced or fixed for £100 but dents, chips, etc a lot more.

Autos a beauty though

Yeah, tell me about it. Cheers for the advice too, appreciate it.

Was going for a Boxster S but changed my mind. The car is to replace a TT Roadster which is just a summer toy really.

Yup - that would be the exact description of mine! I'm Selling for the price offered for trade in.

PM sent.

Still looking for one if anyone has anythink suitable.

Got let down on one yesterday. Agreed a price and the seller said he would keep it for me until i went down at the weekend. I even offered to wire a deposit. Got a text message last night saying he had sold it as someone had offered him £200 more.

I even spent £20 on a HPI check. :x

You could consider a SMG, widens your options slightly (not much) and is easy to put in reverse ;)

same as 'auto' and 'sports car'

I know she means about the reverse, I thought the reverse was far too tight when I first got mine and decided I might break something if I forced it , but that's how it is. It's instead of having to push/pull it up or down. I'd try and talk her round ;) It's something you quickly get used to.

If she doesn't like the reserve gear wait till she experiences the tram-lining

IIRC the auto box will push you up a tax band too?

She couldnt even get it in using both hands.

Just out of interest, how does the SMG car engage reverse?

I have found that most cars with big wheels tramline a little. My RX8 was murder for it. Good fun though.

There's 3 settings:

Left & up slightly is reverse
Middle is neutral
Right is drive

There's no resistance, but you need to have the hand/foot brake to engage from N.

Got one today. Grey with blck leather. 3.0 Auto. Showroom condition, 28000 miles, 10 months BMW Warranty.

£11000. Well pleased. Going to collect it on Wednesday. I will post some photos. :D
