Hello I have always followed any forums I could research to repair Bmw's I have had for years and this is my first post because of how outraged I am with the dealer, which everyone has at one point or another. So, I just purchased a 2003 BMW Z4 2.5 engine with the manual transmission. I bought it with the radio working fine but no sound which usually means blown amp as I already checked all the fuses. So I pulled the amp out and it was corroded from having water in it because water got in it at some point and there was no drain plug as usual in some Bmw's. So I searched all over for a replacement and could find nothing for my part number, you know how you're supposed to do it. So I Called the dealer and they said a new amp would be $760, I would rather die than pay that, so I ended seeing a post about how a e46 convertible worked for another poster on here, so I said why not give the junkyard amplifier a shot. So behold I found a e46 325i 4 door amp and said why not its $18. I popped it in and wow the system sounded good and had good bass. So long story short if you have a z4 and can't find an amp try an e46 one which looks the same anyway and get back to jamming down the road instead of giving the stealership any money. I'll update how it lasts in the longterm.
