I’m a big fan of my Z4 and it’s been 5 weeks since I’ve been able to drive my beauty. It’s a 2003 model. I’ve been looking for this part since it failed the MOT😭 if anyone has any advice or knows anyone that could be of help to me I would be very appreciative! Many thanks

Ps I have tried sending of for a repair service but it’s non repairable 😞

Whereabouts are you?
I need to rummage in the garage but if I have one I’m happy to fit and code it

Morning! Thankyou for your swift reply :) I’m in wiltshire, what about you? Of course if I’m too far away I’m happy to pay postage costs etc

I will be receiving a '8571' in the next few days.
That would work in yours if you don't find another before then.

Bit far to Norfolk for you I know. Depends on how much you're being quoted to code it to your car.
In my experience a lot of garages say they can do it but don't understand what is needed and give up.
For example, a well-known BMW specialist near Norwich quoted a girl £1100 to supply and fit a centre module. When asked, they didn't know what software was needed. I managed to help her, after sourcing a good module from one of the forum gang, and her outlay was around £100 total.

A few options for you. Maybe ask and see if anyone nearer to you can code them?

Doh!
Just realised you can't come to me without an MOT!
Be about a 450 mile round trip for me to come and fix it.
That's a big premium on fuel cost for you.
Seems a local member with the software would be your best bet?

Unless you book the MOT in Norfolk, as then you can drive there (via you on the way)

Stretching the rules a little I think.
My worry is what happens if the module I have turns out to be duff? It is secondhand, though I know it's not from a crashed car.

I was aware of another model but didn’t realise there was more so that’s fantastic news! I have a guy that has worked on Betty for some time and is able to fit and code for me so it’s really just the part I’m after :)

Excellent.
It will be a couple of days until I receive this part.
Let me know if you find another in the meantime.
It will be £55 posted.
If it proves to be duff I will refund you.

Just check that your guy is happy with the procedure, including the fact it is a different part number.

This is the full procedure:

Oh, and one more thing: these usually fail due to water ingress. Whilst the top of the carpet may feel dry, it is likely that the foam underneath is wet. In that case you need to find the leak. Most commonly the door membrane, but could also be running forward from the roof motor area if the drains are blocked.

Good practice anyway to seal the new module in a poly bag with a silica gel sachet for company, as a bit of future proofing.

Oo great advice Thankyou! What is the part number you will be receiving I will run it by him. Many thanks 😊

This is exactly the trouble I am having at the moment :headbang: Can't seem to find a single garage willing to take on coding my dsc module. They all state they can't help with an e series platform. Really?!

Hi All

I’ve recently purchased a Z4 2003 3.0l with passenger side airbag light on, it’s coming up with code for B pillar satellite left.

I have taken out the seat and lifted the carpet, they are saturated and the b pillar module quote corroded. I’ve cleaned the connectors but still not working.

Code error bringing up part number 6933985, done some research and reading on these forms and seems there are a few others with different part numbers could fit?

Anyone got one I could purchase please? Understand it will need recoding which I’m also happy to have a bash at.

Looking for to some replies 😃😃 @enuff_zed ?

Thanks

Hayley

Good morning.

Before we get too deep into it, a lot of your error codes say SBSR which is the right side.
Check that one as well.
You can double check the part number on the unit itself.
I will check in the garage shortly for you.
If you out the number into Realoem it will give you all the alternatives as well.

Here are the alternatives for the SBSL:
I can tell you now that I don't currently have any as they seem to be failing with alarming frequency and everyone wants the same ones.

Hi oh I see, I didn’t realise the R was Right, these are the pictures of the left one and other codes that came up about the left one. Will check the right one today.

Oooh that looks messy. the is a very good chance the plug is beyond saving too, so you may want to crrate a separate 'Wanted' advert on here for the SBSL and a decent length of loom with that plug on so it can be spliced in.

Then potentially the same for the right side (SBSR) as well.

Hi I took the right side module out and it seems to be fine no corrosion. Do you have a left side module part no 65776948087? It’s £400 on the internet for a new one :o
