Z4 age group?

64 - sold my 3.0i Roadster last December - tried to act my age but failed dismally and will pick up my new ( to me ) 3.0se Roadster next week . always loved sports cars all my life - my first was a MG Midget ( you think getting in to a zed is hard ! ) Triumph 2.0 Vitesse ( not really a sports car but close - bit like a z4 coupe ) , MGBGT ( the only car I had to put the seat forward by one notch to reach the pedals and I'm 6'7" , Lotus Elan ( surprisingly roomy )

After I sold my last zed I looked at an Audi TT Quattro , Nissan 350Z , Boxster S , S2000 but none compared to the zed in looks ,performance and economy. My old 3.0i had only 29k miles and was spotless - the one I'm getting is a year newer , one owner . fBMW history ,better spec ,28k miles and totally original ( and cheaper than the one I sold ) - no brainer !

As for my age probably like many old gits I feel the same inside and intend to continue to age as disgracefully as ever. My four grandsons loved my old zed and can't wait for a ride in the new one .

I think we are on the same wave length ..
Although Im only 6' 1"
My older Brother had the Frog Eye ..
I was the starter motor so that's how I got to ride ..
Push Start only thanks to Lucas.
But the steering wheel was huge , so the fit was tight until you got unfolded into the seat.

I always had a soft spot for a Triumph GT6+. I thought that was an amazing looking car.
A Lotus Europa wasn't far behind. Im thinking both of those were designed for the less than 5' 5" crowd.
I settled for an 850 Mini which in spite of it's issues, I only have fond memories of.
After that I had to settle for Mustangs (67 & 79)and Chev Vans.
So far so good with the Z4 ..It's relatively rare over here and it does get noticed.

Cheers
Bumpy

49 now, got the Z4 in May 2009 to add to the Ducati....bought on 2006 just need a bigger garage now to add some more toys :)

dont worry about the age thing, at 53 the insurance is affordable, and as long as yr still 25 in the head, it dont matter, I still water ski into 14 meters, surf, gym and circuit train, i dont feel old yet, when i do i'll swap the mc for an amg55, now that is an old mans car !!!

Thanks for all the replies. Interesting to know all the different ages on here! only been a member a few days and still haven't bought a Z4 Coupe yet (hunting for the right one) and very friendly atmosphere. Excellent! 8)

I'll turn 40 in May, bought my Z when I was 38, had one as a company car for a year when I was 34/35. I don't feel 40 though, weird... I'm firmly in the 'child rearing' age group with a son who turns 13 on Thursday, but we have another family car so that's fine. Insurance is actually only about £480... However when you add in legal protection, NCB protection and breakdown assistance it pushes it way up

They are old man's cars only because you have to save til you're old before you can afford to pay the insurance premiums demanded these days.

It should be legal to punch in the face any insurance broker who quotes you over a grand to insure a car that is only worth £6k.

It was the insurance industry that allowed fake whiplash claims to become such an easy scam but it's our money they've been paying out more freely while maintaining their steady profits.

Gets down from soapbox. :x

I'm 28 with a 3.0 Si Roadster. Got some sarky comments from someone on Facebook with 'I know a 90 year old with that car'.

A 90 year old with good taste clearly!!

Well I am 56 and don't give stuff what others think of my cars, hell my other car is a SKODA although a Vrs :driving:
