Z4 Aerial

Hi all,

After a bit of advice!

Is the aerial in the attached picture a standard fitment?

If so, is the top part supposed to screw off? I've tried all my brute force but it doesnt unscrew.

Reason I ask is because I have purchased a car cover and it gets in the way somewhat!

Get some wd40 in there they do like to seize up

If you do snap it off I’ve got spares it’s a fairly easy replacement

Thankyou - so it does screw off then! I'll try the WD40 trick and man-up with my efforts....

It should do, yes, but if it is seized then you have to be careful not to spin the wider bit at the base as well. Really difficult to grip it with anything without marking it.

that, sir, is the original whippy aerial. if you do get it off, a dab of copper grease when you screw it back in again will help prevent future seizing.

You will need a T25 when I mean if you break it had exactly the same thing I noticed the previous owner had a go as well could see the plier marks on the Ariel I soaked it for days and it still snapped I ordered a cheap stubby off eBay and a original base plate

Copies amounts of WD40, 3 days and a pair of grips later and the whippy is off and the cover is on!

As above, put a dab of copper grease on the threads when you fit it again.
And it's the best aerial for the classic, Z4
Don't fit a silly stumpy

[ref]Ferruccio[/ref], like the private plate on the white one. Now I've posted you something and know your surname.

That's my 330e daily drive Martin. It's actually a joy to drive but in a different way to the Z4. I'm still waiting for a nice day to take the Zed out for a spin with the roof down!
