My wife would NEVER say "It's just a car". She loves her Honda Accord, but I sparked her intrest in a 6 series....

Mate of mine bought a brand new SLK, £45000,, when he parked it on the drive, his neighbour turned round and said "wow, have you bought the wife a new car", you can imagine how that went down

One of my neighbours and my parents seem incapable of understanding we have a couple of daily drives the Z4 and an X5 and we each take the one we fancy most on the day based upon use, practicality, weather (and first out the door...lol) Neither of us claim sole ownership or rights of either but enjoy and share as we have done all our lives.

Interestingly theses folks need to assign ownership to create an order and structure in their world - folks are strange.

I don't think it was malicious, just something that popped out. It seemed more to me like she was trying to spark a conversation with you, saw you were offended and her apology took things from bad to worse, poor kid.

Me, I've yet to get a negative comment on either Z4, "girly" roadster or "manly" M Coupe, but I'd pretty much let it slide if I did. I've gotten a lot of thumbs up, "nice ride", and "hot car" comments over the years, and you take the bad with the good.

Don't know about you but girls in my area certainly don't spark a conversation with.... "is that your mums car?" Don't think this is really about whether a z4 is a girly or manly car. I'd say she's either jealous because you're young driving a nice car, or she's trying to figure out if you have money. :D

Well all can I say is last weekend the sun was shining i had the top down stationary at the traffic lights when i hear ''hairdressers car!!'' only to turn around to see some chav in a purple beaten up astra yelling out his window. Obviously it is thought of as a ''girls car'' but in this case it was definately pure jealousy.
My z'd is an 06 3.0l si sport roadster black with red leather( hardly girly i would of thought and it goes like s*** of a shovel) :driving:

The reason she thought it was a girl's car is because it's a car girls are attracted to. That's a GOOD thing, brother!!

When she saw your sexy Z drive up, her subconscious impulses went all atingle. She thought, "I like that car!", and imagined how nice it would be to be the one in it. She thought how sexy she would look in a beautiful car like that, but at the same time she sensed the stud she was talking to look at the car with interest and approval. She emotionally reacted as if he was staring at another woman's breasts, instead of her own, and felt a twinge competitive envy of what she by now feared / assumed would be a sexy woman driving it. She felt threatened. She felt like a competitor was invading her territory, a rival. She protected her own fear of inadequacy by hoping the owner was at least to old to be of interest to the stud she was flirting with, so she subconsciously projected a "mom" as the driver, hoping that it wasn't a gorgeous blonde with breasts perkier than her own, a bottom taughter than hers, a sultry b*tch who would steal all the attentions of the men at the club away from her.

By the time you got out of the car, she was so attached to her preconcieved projections, she was surprised when you didn't match her false expectations. She wanted to talk to you, to flirt, to catch your attention because of the lust she felt for your car, but was unable to uncouple her urge to attack the b*tch who would steal her men fast enough to have her flirt come out as anything but a rude remark designed to confirm her hope that the owner was a "mom".

The long and the short of it is, the Z is NOT a girl's car. It is a car girls think is sexy. Like I said, dude, that's a GOOD thing!

I've wrestled with this issue myself. Our Z4 2.5 is my wife's car, although when we are together I drive it. This "woman's car" issue has come up in the past mainly because many of those I see in Z4's are women. In fact, I would approximate about 70%. Further compounding the issue is that I also own a Z4 M Coupe, which is as much a man's car as possible. Any car that does not have an automatic transmission option will by default end up MAINLY attracting men. After driving my M Coupe, the 2.5 feels like an electric car. I've completely lost my desire to drive it. In fact, this weekend we are driving to LA and because the weather is supposed to be good, my wife is FORCING me to take the 2.5. I'd rather take the MC or at least my 750.

Back to the woman issue, I think the Z4 roadster is such a great, aggressive looking design that to say it's a woman's car is totally missing the point. The "problem" for the macho crowd is that the Z4 is such an aesthetically pleasing car, many women who naturally have an eye for style, design, and good taste, are very attracted to this beautiful vehicle. Which is a good thing if you're a single guy.

Don't know about you, but in my area not everyone is consistently smooth with the opening lines. My worst?

Friend: "Emanuel, this is my friend I was telling you about, her name's T'kiya."
Me: "It is? Whoa, that must suck!"

Sometimes, you just happen to say what you're thinking. :?

My wife told me I couldn't get a Porsche Boxster because it was definitely a "girls car"! She was happy with the Bimmer though and does not think it's a girls car. :D
Not sure what makes a car gender specific, but I am very happy with my choice!

Last week I was driving the Z with my daughter and three girls in a Corolla were hooting and hollering at a stop light. I turned to look and they all yelled out "Nice car!"

 ....soooo...what happened next???

You know, it's not such a bad thing being a womans car, is it?

The way I see it is like this: The Coupe looks better aesthetically-wise; but the roadster is way more exhilarating, arousing the inner most sensuality of any being... :heat:...as far as which is more manly, I think that all depends on the situation 8)
