Z4 a womans car...

Ok so I have just got back from the gym. When I walked in, minding my own business, a girl(one of the ones who doesnt know when enough is enough on the sunbeds!) is standing by a personal trainer. She calls me over and asks 'is that your mums car?' Now I am quite out of place, not knowing she had even watched me driving in, obviously I said no and she said 'oh, I though it would be your mums.'
I walked away, not sure if I should be annoyed or what and then when I walked past them 5 min later she said 'sorry, we were just discussing what we thought about cars coming into the gym and I said yours would ef be a girl driving.'
So I am pretty fuming, it is always later u come up with the witty retorts, but why would someone have to say something like this to someone they dont even know? Some people are very sad indeed.
So what does everyone think, am I driving a girls car? (Its a black Z4 M roadster). And why do people like this even exist?? :thumbsdown:
 
She's just up her own arse and wants to feel better about driving to the gym in a Fiat Punto!

Don't worry about it, she's very sad indeed!... next time just mumble something about PMT and walk off ;)
 
She probably does not realize what kind of power is below that bonnet. You should have told her you can take her for a ride, give her a taste of what it has to offer and then she can tell you afterwards if she still think it's a womans car. :lol:

I would not worry too much. I've never heard that kind of feedback from women, quite the opposite (sexy, powerful, cool etc.. they get really impressed). There are all kinds of people out there with all kinds of opinions. Don't let a single woman's opinion take away from your enjoyment. :)
 
I would have asked here where she was from - because where I come from manners aren't optional :lol:

Plus the M Roadster (even though it is no M Coupe) is quite a manly car!
 
It's true, the Z4 is a girl's car, just like the Z3 is a hairdresser's car. The only manly Z is the Z1. :fuelfire:

Was out with wifey and parked next to a cafe. On the table just next to the parking there was a woman and a man.
Upon exciting the car the woman asked me "Tell me it's true that your car is a real mans car, right?" I can't remember what was exactly my response, but the lady then said annoyed to her man "See, I told you, that car is a real mans car!!" :lol: :lol: :lol:

Pretty obvious how that lady felt about a Z4 (and by the way I have a black M roadster, same as yours), and also pretty obvious her man really had no clue what that M badge means. :lol: :lol:
 
I guess they are just rather ignorant rude people who were having a game and went too far in passing their internal game/ humour out to you.

When people wish to make such comments and label owners, there really is no win. They can perceive it as a woman's or or as some ego /macho thing - opposite ends of the contiuum and frankly I would not care.

We have the same thing in the Jeep community from some other manufacturer groups and just ignore it.
 
Jas, don't worry about the idiots. They're not worth wasting your energy on. My barn animals have better etiquette then that. Just excuse her and feel sorry that her parents didn't teach her any better.
 
Thanks guys, I really dont care what people say to me usually but it just took me by such surprise I was a bit annoyed. It has been a beautiful day her in the uk, the roof has been down, stereo up, and I havent stopped smiling!
I just dont know why you would say that to a complete stranger, especially not when your driving an ancient Land Rover Freelander! Think Im more annoyed because after I walked away I had so many good comebacks but at the time I just kinda stuttered cos I was so surprised :rofl:
 
I have to be honest. I see at least a dozen (if not 2 dozen) Z4s a week in my city (Scottsdale, AZ). They're almost all driven by women. :-(

But if it makes us feel any better it's the same for nissan 350z's, Ford mustang's, and Mercedez slk's. In fact, at least half of the people I see in corvettes (DOZENS per week) are women. Then there's Porche's...that's about 50/50 men vs women drivers. Even saw a woman drive up in a Ferrari F430 last week.

Guess that's what happens when you have hot car...your girlfriend or wife wants to drive it! :D
 
Gentleman, you must keep things in perspective. There are somewhere along the lines of approx. 14 women to every 1 man. It also really depends on the area in which you live. I don't see near as many Z's or sport cars in general as matt does, but I sort of live in the country where every man, woman and child drives a pick-up.

Look at it this way, at least you know there are plenty of really cool women out there who admire and desire the hot cars. Better then the typical apron-clad 'moomy-van' chicks! :lol:

Ignore it, walk away from it & laugh about it, it's not worth the aggravation. By the way, you handled it well. :thumbsup:
