Z4 - 6.5k budget - Glos/Oxfordshire

UPDATE:

Hi all, updating this as I put my search on hold before but I'm back with a slightly higher budget (the beauty of putting it on hold was I could save a bit more money  )

I'm based in the Gloucestershire/Oxfordshire area and would ideally love an E86 Coupe for the top end of my budget, but would consider a well looked after E85 for less. Engine size isn't overly important compared to history and mechanical condition as I'd rather just have a good car than be too picky on spec and so on, and I don't mind some cosmetic bits I could tidy up myself eventually if it helps the price. Preferably manual, but might consider auto if it's a really good example.

Cheers!

Welcome to the forum, and good luck with your search.

Welcome.
Half way through fettling an M54 3.0i on a 53-plate.
Bought from an elderly chap who could no longer afford the insurance when he hit 80!
Over the past year of his ownership I have replaced an airbag module, replaced the yaw sensor, fitted all new Brembo discs and pads.
I relocated the roof motor to the boot.
I had all new suspension to fit but in the end he offered it to me.
I have done the rear suspension and upgraded the DISA valve with metal innards.
Still got the front suspension and the vanos seals to do.
The roof has a small patch repair, but I have another roof to fit.
I am also going to swap out the seats and fit heated and electrically adjustable ones.
It is black sapphire with black leather interior.
Currently sat on very good condition 17” ‘Daisy’ wheels.
I return from holiday 2/6 and if you would be interested I can send photos then.
Reg is AT53 LEF.
Chaps son owned it on the Isle of Man so DVLA history looks a little odd.
Just clicked over 90k.

It would be towards the lower half of your budget and there would be potential for me to ‘customise’ it to your requirements a little if needed.

My 3.0Si Auto is listed in the sale section, super smooth as the gearbox is the later 6 speed and had an oil change.

Hi all,

I've been on the hunt for a little while now but been disappointed by a few and remembered going to an owners forum has served me well, so here I am!

My only real requirement is that it's the 3.0, ideally a manual but I could consider an auto if there's a history of being well looked after to keep it as smooth as possible. Other spec is secondary to how well it's been cared for. My budget is £5k (or less, of course  ) and I'm based in Gloucestershire, so looking for something within a relatively reasonable distance.

There are one or two nice options listed for sale here already that I may enquire about, but I've often found some success with jumping the queue on the good cars yet to be listed, so can't hurt to post a wanted thread. :)

Cheers,

Hi Chris
My 3.0 is for sale now if it may be of interest.

Thanks

Wishing you better luck this time around.

With that budget you might find a facelift. Sport models all had the sought-after M-Sport seats as standard that hardly any pre-facelifts had.

Thanks, I’m determined to get one eventually! Hoping a budget increase widens the possibilities.

Good info about the seats, didn’t really appreciate there was a difference but clearly there is (although not a deal breaker if anyone is reading with a car that doesn’t have them!).

The ‘Project Spa’ 2.5si is now up for sale for sale on here. Higher mileage but had just about everything fettled and documented on the forum.

Would my Z4 Roadster be a possibility for you - listed in the for sale section? not too far away Telford/Shropshire

Appreciate the replies guys, will check out the 'Project Spa' thread(s)! Also Neal, that red Z4 looks stunning, not sure I've ever seen any red E85s on the road? Will take a look at your for sale listing also. Thanks.
