Z4 3.0SI Sport Servicing

Hi everyone,

I'm new to the forum. Lots of useful info on here which is great! I'm currently looking to jump ship from my Audi TT to a Z4 3.0 si. I'm just curious with regards to the servicing side of things. I have looked around and can only really find information which is 'M' specific. Does the 3.0 require inspection 1 and 2 services? What are the running costs excluding fuel for a year?
Currently I stay away from Audi 'stealerships' but I'm curious as to whether people on here favour BMW dealerships or go to a specialist garage? I've read a lot about a variation in prices between dealers. If the later is the case could anyone inform me of some recommend specialist garages in the UK? pref east / South East.

Cheers,

Tom

Hi there,

The 3.0 si does require inspection services as well as the more routine oil services in between. My last inspection 1 service at a BMW dealer cost £490 which I thought was a bit strong so I will be looking to use A1BM in Stevenage or M Style in Romford next time especially as I am now out of warranty. Both of these garages have websites so check them out. Running costs are hard to estimate as obviously its based on mileage, type of use etc but I doubt it would be any more than the TT.

Cheers

That's steep for Inspec1, I had an Inspec one done by Main Dealer in Dec price matched at £190. (Always phone around for prices and haggle).

I know! I think the basic service for the 3.0 si is slightly more expensive than the 2.5si, Here's the breakdown -

Service charge - £240
Oil (6.5litres) - £97.50
Oil filter - £10
Micro-filter(whatever that is) - £30
Screen wash - £11
Wiper blade - £20

All plus 20% VAT and there you are at £490.20, BARGAIN!!!

K'in hell. £11 for screenwash? Thats 4 times more expensive then filling your screen wash tank with petrol!

Cheeky barstewrards.

Point example as to why I detest stealer servicing. :poke:

Servicing is from new: oil, inspect 1, oil, inspect 2 repeat over and over again. Roughly between 12-15k miles between services depending on how you drive.
BMW do discount servicing for older cars, over 4 years old I believe, which often makes them not a great deal more than an indy.
£11 for screen wash is taking the piss though, as is £100 for the oil. I provided my own oil when I had my M3 serviced at a main dealers, cost me £70 for 8 litres of oil so plenty spare for top ups.

Overall compared to my Audi experience albeit awhile ago and with a bi-turbo'd V6 at the time BMW's are proving slightly lower but as always shopping around helps a bit.

On the old toy BM's we have diy isn't too difficult and plenty of part sources, obviously not so easy with the newer models.

Should be the same cost, and I didn't have to pay for screen wash either (although I still don't know how they fitted 1 litre in considering it was already full to the brim). :?

Just had an inspection 1 for my 3.0si and that cost me £370 which I thought was rather excessive, but they collected the car and dropped it off and you also get a full vehicle inspection like rust and tire wear and underbody stuff, so it all adds up.

My first oil service cost me £120 from an independent inc the cost of oil (which i provided)
