Z4 3.0si Sport Individual Auto (Rubinschwarz / Champagne)

Testing the waters, I've got an Alpina Roadster S and this and this one barely sees any mileage and I end up using the third car for commuting! I'm keen to see whether pricing is on the money. This was a forum car which I bought a while back but has been sitting and I need the money now.

It's an Individual model so has the very rare rubinschwarz ruby black paint (black which gives glints of metallic red or purple in sunlight, really stunning in person and the pictures don't do it justice). The interior is champagne nappa with piano black trim. There were only 4 of the 3.0Si Sport Automatic made with this colour combination!

This is my third Z4 over the years - I had the 2.0i and the 2.5i prior to this (both manual), and I didn't miss the manual much having the auto / paddle shift. The shifters make easy work of holding whichever gear you need, with the advantage of being able to cruise effortlessly too! After this I bought the Alpina and neither of them sees the mileage they should be seeing. In an ideal world, I'd use this for commuting but it's too nice for that!

I've had the following done:
  • Exterior detail (a 6-8 hour one, nothing extreme or harsh but it's reduced the swirling and brought out the lovely ruby red/brown in the Rubinschwarz). You'll notice it's a lot cleaner than the photos in the ad I bought it from - look at the exhaust!
  • Replaced the tyres
  • Had the front RTABs / lollipops replaced - this was tramlining like a... tram. The tyres and these bushes contributed. These cost £200 fitted.
  • New battery - after buying the car, I went abroad for a week, and when I got back the car was screaming at me! The alarm was going off because of a dud battery.

I am in the process of chasing down the service history - this was lost by the previous owner but I will provide a detailed spreadsheet with all the information I have managed to piece together. I was aiming to send out my replacement blank service book to each garage consecutively and have put a lot of the work in place to get this plan in action, but haven't started sending it out just yet due to a new job!

I'm looking at £6250 and am located in Hampshire. The car doesn't have an MOT currently but I will put a fresh one on for the buyer.

Good luck with the sale, just hope you don’t waste anyone else’s time.

I'm sorry if it felt like I wasted your time. I did spend significant amounts of time sending you emails, getting a video of the car that you requested, and that was after your insulting offer of 5k. I normally wouldn't have replied but you were polite so I was polite.

Your email got lost in the deluge of emails that I've been receiving for work, and I've not had the time to catch up as it's been a busy month and I've had to go abroad twice. I got an email about another thread I'm subscribed to, and that reminded me of the ad and the need for a bump given the good weather

Apologies again, but you wanted to buy the car as a stop-gap and I think it's better if it goes to someone more local who can come and look in person. It's a lot of car for the money and would be more expensive if the few little niggles were sorted.

No problem, sure you’ll find a buyer.

I was going to view in person and made that clear, so don’t quite understand your point. The offer of £5k was changed back quickly to £5500, but was not made to insult you. It simply reflected my caution about the routine maintenance needed, and the fact that you don’t have details of other past maintenance.

There is no MOT and who knows what needs doing, so to help you, I suggested the MOT and free Health Check at BMW, to add some reassurance to the next owner. I was going to pay for an inspection and told you that.

How long I needed to keep the car is not relevant.

Looking back I think you picked the car up off the forum for a maximum of £5k, and it doesn’t appear to have seen a spanner since.

Really suggest you get the MOT done, to give forum members an idea of what they are bidding on. If it were my car I’d get the IN2 and Brake Fluid done. I would have offered the asking price with that done.

All the best.

I mentioned the work I've done so far in my first post above, at a cost of >£1000. I will get the MOT and brake fluid / IN2 done in due course as you can see I've had a fairly full-on month.

I'll jump in to separate the passive aggressive nonsense ....

Hell fire , an inspection 2, 12 month ticket, brake fluid change all on a 5.5k individual z4 with loads of options?! You do realise this isn't up at a main dealer at £11, 995 right?

Looking at the overpriced shite available on the market at present this cars fantastic value.

Jamie, my offer was £5500 with me paying for the IN2 etc. Simple deal, all I asked was for the car to be put through the MOT, as it had expired. Hardly expecting too much.

All is well, the car is great value an no hard feelings either way. Motoroller is a good guy and circumstances just got in the way.
