Z4 3.0i vs 7 series 4.0i

Hi guys just wondered if you could post your opinions.
I know a guy with a 7 series 4.0i v8 when ever I bump into him he keeps banging on about how fast his 7 series is and that it would eat my z for breakfast how true do you think this is? We are both going up Santa pod in the summer and was going to go head to head I just don't want to make my self look stupid. Pretty sure it would be a good run and I would edge it but unsure. Both cars are standard. Thanks for your opinions.
 
assuming they're both standard, your Z4 should be quicker.

That said, a lot will depend on the driver. My friend who is professional racing driver can pretty much wipe the floor with me in anything!
 
Yep on paper your z4 is quicker.

Wether you are or not depends on whos behind the wheel, gear changws, start etc.

Got to love the E38 but..

at 282 bhp / 1925kg (presuming its an auto) puts out 146.49 bhp/ton & 95.5 Nm/litre http://www.carfolio.com/specifications/models/car/?car=280599

Wheres as your E85..

at 228bhp / 1365kg (presuming its a manual) puts out 167.03 bhp/ton & 100.7 Nm/litre http://www.carfolio.com/specifications/models/car/?car=99748

Making yours quicker at the top end and quicker off the line too..

Of course age also plays a factor, its likely they have both lost horses and that the 98 E38 has lost more over time.. Still a cracking car though!
 
Haha no contest!

My friend has an old 540 (think its the e39) and mine wont break a sweat pulling away from him!!
