So I've had a look at a few cars today all in my budget of £4K give or take a bit.

I think I know what i would like, infact one recently sold car on here might have been perfect but I was too late and the car too far away, another looks ideal but is a little to rich for my blood and miles away

here goes

3.0L engine with good or perfect history and up to 100K, manual or auto is fine. nice alloys preferably without runflats. A good wad of receipts for work done and evidence that car has been looked after.

either a dark exterior with a light interior or the other way round but not black on black on black - just not my thing. So dark blue or black with Cream or tan leather is OK, White with black or red would be OK too. Heated seats are a must and a phone would be good. Standard radio is fine. Any other gadgets are a real bonus, cruise, memory seats, remote roof etc.

I could live with alloys needing refurb, stone chips if not excessive, the odd mark here and there but only if the price reflected the cost of repairs

I don't want unloved, boy racer, smelly cars. Worn bolsters, cracked windscreens, falling off trim, dodgy aftermarket strereos, hand painted grills and wheels are all big no-nos.

Also as explained elsewhere I'm quite stuck for time so I need to be looking within an hour of Chester. I'm coming out of a 2 year old E89 28i which I love so my standards are high and I know I'm being picky but if you don't ask you don't get.

I'm obviously willing to make some compromises on the above but if you've got a white 3.0 SE auto with 80K on the clock and red leather, get in touch, especially if you're round the corner.

thanks for taking the time to read the above

Does Paul's 80k 08 Si in Stratus not tempt you ? I appreciate its slightly above budget at £6k but i'm sure the extra spend is worth it for a Si car (clear lights , sport seats , 265bhp etc ) & is unlikely to shed much if any value in the next few years :?

temp is the correct term. I understand it's extremely well looked after but it's the dark on black on black that Puts me off (and the price, I'm shelling out £38k on a 4 series for the boss).

Also it's 4 hours each way to get a look at the stone chips so I can get an idea how much they would cost to put right.

Sorry Paul but I really don't like black alloys.

now if it had read leather and nice silver alloys perhaps..... :tumbleweed:

I agree but its slightly above budget and distance.

looks perfect though

If possible it's always worth travelling for the right car as they are getting older. I understand it is outside budget though.

IT's not the distance it's the time. SWMBO has had an accident I can't leave her for too long and she doesn't travel well due to the injury.

OK folks today is the day, looking at a couple of cars this morning then if I don't see anything better I'm in for the grey one.

so if you're thinking of selling get in touch asap please. I want the best I can get in my budget.

really really like the black/red one but no way to view it and its slightly out of my budget

thanks for all the heads up so far.
