Z4 3.0 v 123d

Having owned a 120d (newer 177bhp unit) remapped to 217bhp (and yes verified on the rollers) and a 3.0i I can categorically state that is bullshit.

The 123d is remapped, whereas the "3.0" is a 3.0i as oppose to 3.0si.

My old 3.0i auto would have outpaced my remapped 120d to 120 no doubt about it.

Just for the record my 120d was exactly the same pace to 100mph as my mates standard 123d coupe, laterally nothing in it neck and neck stuff.

I think even a standard 123d may have faster 50-75mph acceleration because of the higher torque.

Added to the above a race in my Coupe sounds a lot more dramatic than that! He got a crap start - barely broke traction and changed well below peak power revs. He also backed off before the other guy overtook.....

Next!

Even if it weren't a rubbish comparison, the 123d is still a smokey oil burner and is probably rushing to show a customer a book of carpet samples... :poke:

Auto 3.0i vs mapped 123d...

What you have to consider too is that inside the 3.0i you got bwwarrrrppppp... in the 2.0TT diesel you get, whirryyyy lalalalla drrrrtyyyyy wiiisssshhhhh, lalalalala...

No thanks :D

Having owned a (admitedly standard) 123d before i was given a company car and thus was able to swap the 123d for the Z4.

i can honestly say the 123d is a fabulous little car and if i only had one car it would be the car i would go back too!

but i can also say that no amount of messing around under the bonnet would make it as quick as my Z4 3.0si, short of putting a 335d engine under the hood! :driving:

Just shows driver skill goes a long way!

Even a well driven 116 would be better then badly driven Z4M
