hi guys, its the first time i am needing to buy tyres for the z4,

iv been checking round at prices of tyres and have a few questions

1 - i am currently on runflats and dont really want to downgrade to normal tyres as if i end up getting a punture im screwed so whats the best runflat tyre for value and make

2, if i do for for a non runflat tyre what would be the best in your eyes,

comments welcome

The best RFT are Michelin PS2 .They transform the handling by common agreement from all switching from the OEM Bridgestones to the Michelin
Never considered non RFT so cannot comment there

As a recent RFT convert I would strongly recommend "upgrading" to non-RFTs and I would suggest those non-RFTs be Vredestein Ultrac Sessantas. Having driven recently with both I would never go back to RFTs even if it meant I had to get towed once a year. The ride with the stock tires is jarring and unpleasant when compared to traditional pneumatic tyres. The tramlining has also gotten considerably better and the Vreds took only a few days to wear in.

So, unless you take a lot of back roads with no cell service or just can't live with maybe getting stranded and waiting for a tow I'd definitely recommend the Vreds over the RFTs.

They even look great!

And to support this, the car gets more steering feedback and more progressive handling without the overly hard sidewalls. The Vredesteins are indeed very good, especially in the dry. They come close to the Michelin Pilot Sport PS2. And outperform the Bridgestone Potenza S001 on our Zeds, well in the dry that is. In the wet, the S001 are very impressive.

On previous cars when I can afford them I tend to buy Continental Contact Sports as I find them great in all conditions especially the wet.

Having said that I've hardly had a chance to try them on the Z as I only put them on on Saturday.

Wow, thanks for all the comments people !,

im in two minds now weather to save my self some money and get normal tyres, or to get the run flats and know all is well.

my tyre size is 255/35/18

cheapest runflat being a bridgestone is from TYRE GIANT- @ £253.20

i understand people say the runflats arnt as good round the corners but isnt it ncie to know you can drive even if u get a puncture ?

I swapped from run flats a few weeks ago, and cannot express how much better the car is now, chalk and cheese, just put a couple of cans of Slime in the boot and a decent compressor and your good to go.

can anyone comment on how the Vredestein Ultrac Sessantas compare to the Faken 452's as they are about the same price at the moment?

Can't comment on the difference but am on my second set of 452's and very happy.
For the money you'd spend on rft's you could put real quality rubber on and don't forget ///M's run on non rft's and that's no accident ...

Now, I didn't know that.... But that's a pretty good indication that RFTs roadholding isn't all that...
