Z4 3.0 SI Roadster

Hi all,

Long time lurker but only recently signed up. Been on the search for an E85 3.0 SI Roadster on and off for a while now. My dad owned a 2005 3.0 SE that sold through the forum a few years back to help fund my first car (Thanks dad.) Fast forward a while having discovered I can actually afford insure one I haven’t been able to shake the desire to own one myself, as predictable as that may be!

Manual, Good Service History and Heated Seats are must haves... not overly fussed about mileage or colour aside from Phoenix Yellow. Hoping to spend up to £7k.

I’m well aware that 3.0 SI Roadsters are quite hard to come by at the minute but if anyone is thinking of selling let me know

Thanks for taking the time to read, Cheers.

Welcome to the forum, and good luck finding the right one.

But you may need to travel because according to a database someone on here put together less than 1,000 3.0Si Roadsters were registered in the UK! It's well worth the effort though as the 3 litre N52 engine in them is great.

Hi,

Just for clarity there's nowhere near that many, there's around 50 manual and 30 automatic 3.0si Roadsters in the UK. The 2.5si is also low in numbers with around 97 manual and 23 automatic.

Good luck with the search

Where are you getting your numbers from Daz? The howmanyleft data is not correct if that’s what your looking at, there are many discussions on here. For coupes and 3.0Si, the perso.numericable information seems to be definitive as it’s based on chassis VIN numbers.

963 3.0Si roadsters made for UK.

I cross referenced How Many Left data directly with Gov.UK data and it's exactly the same. If there data isn't correct who's is?

This is straight from the Department Of Transport, I've just filtered out other columns and does not include SORNDoT.PNG

HowManyLeft is taken directly from gov.uk, so they will be the same. If you filter on Z4 and scroll down the list, you will find some more generic codes, e.g. “Z4 Si Sport” which presumably will be made up of 2.5Si and 3.0Si roadsters and possibly coupes. There is also “Z4 Si SE” and just “Z4 Sport”, i.e. a lot of vehicle records with non-specific designations.

An explanation for this apparent miscoding may be in the “Vehicle Licensing Statistics: Notes and Definitions” document, which says:
“Make and model names
The entry for each vehicle on the database does not contain the text of the make and model. Instead, vehicles are registered using a set of standard codes. Each manufacturer has defined what level of detail should be captured by these codes. A standard list which can be used to convert the code into a textual name has been published at: http://www.joinedupsystems.net/ Context.aspx?ContextId=20312.”

Unfortunately, the link doesn’t appear to be working at the moment, so I have no idea how the coding works.

Thanks for the information, very misleading if you don't do the research isn't it. I feel quite deflated now
