Z4 3.0 SE (2004) - radio upgrade?

Just picked up my car this week. Would like to upgrade the radio system to include iPod use. Can you let me know what options people have pursued (keen to fit a sub woofer behind the drivers seat). Thanks.

Hi
i fitted a denon sub woofer behind the passenger seat, what a huge difference to the sound :D , but it does slightly restrict how far thw seat goes back,so for my drivers seat it was not an option as I have the seat quite a way back. I also have the Dension 300 gateway, which is great, with a connection in the glove box but all operated via my mfsw, it also has a usb which is handy for a stick and upgrading.

Welcome to the Forum!

The DIY section has some pretty good advice that may suit your needs

Im having a Pioneer Avic X1 headunit fitted in next couple of weeks. Which hopefully if compatible my iphone will be connected to.

I have cubby holes behind each seat. I would have thought I would only need to fit one sub-woofer and keep the other cubby hole - presumably there is a speaker mounting unit that can slot into the cubby hole?

If I've understood a couple of other posts correctly the basic Prof Nav system may not have speakers fitted behind the grills in the front door - a quick upgrade there if that is the case?

Went to a car audio centre yesterday but the guy didn't fill me with confidence.

Not sure if an amplified head unit (Alpine?) plus speaker upgrades with ipod connectivity or an inline amplifier, speaker upgrades (possibly a sub woofer) and a Dension Gateway 300 is the way to go?

Does the AV extender available for the Dension mean iPod videos can be viewed on the Prof Vav?
