Z4 3.0 Coupe market watch

Black with red example here on 95k @£6995 which considering the original MV2s are included seems more than fair :? possibly even a little underpriced right now https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-Z4-si-3-0-Coupe-2006-2dr-Petrol-Manual-12-Months-MOT-95-000-Miles/392987462780?hash=item5b7fe0cc7c:g:hU0AAOSwiK9fkH6H

I've been keeping an eye on Coupe's since last July and I bought mine back in Jan at what felt like the bottom of the depreciation (maybe).

That Red one is over priced, it smacks of a person who is researched enough to know that red and the interior combo is rare in the Coupe Si (but not necessarily desirable) and that low miles are sought after. They are attaching weight to those items alone as a differentiator, condition is a moot point because any coupe at that mileage should look sublime anyway.

There seemed to be a general pricing structure pre covid ie 8k being the sweet spot 6k leggy 10k+ being mint and so on (roughly speaking).

Now they are all over the place, like the examples here recently. I saw Coupe late 2019 with 147k miles for £4700 now I'm seeing cars in the area for £7k!

It's hard to tell if it's covid doing this or appreciation has begun and the market is yet to settle on values for each division of Coupe - high/low miles, service history vs none and so on.

Interesting times!

I sent a message to the company selling this 15k coupe to ask for details of the service history. I was astonishing when they refused and said the only way I could see the service history was to visit them. Under the current circumstances surely we should all be doing as much as possible to reduce the need for traveling.
Probably because they have had several communiques from the Antipodes showing positive interest, and indicating they can move quickly to conclude a sale.

Well i see the year so far (Si coupe) as starting at a low that continued flat until post lockdown saw a blaze of sales obviously pushing prices up . I don't think CV has altered much , what its done is compress a cycle of 12-18months into 6-9 months.
I also think that current demand has dwindled & prices are sliding once again but to add to your research i can tell you the market for these has followed a rollercoaster path since i bought my first one in 2012 , that was a 88k black sport model bought for £9450 which i sold in 2013 for £9200.
Since then ive owned another 4 x Si sport E86 including the current 95k car which i'm pretty sure would sell around £8250/£8450 so pro rata they have seen little change overall but depending where on the ride you buy / sell can make a difference of around £2k ?

Are they expecting you to come view the service book and paperwork too? That’s the point [ref]Benderloch[/ref], and I were making, what a ridiculous attitude when someone is showing serious interest and is trying to do due diligence on a potential purchase

Until you’ve signed on the dotted line, and I hope you do if it’s what you’re after  they should be engaging positively with any serious prospective buyers.

Viewed the service book and BMW history. Nothing untoward there.. Lovely car. :)
Should be an ideal stablemate for the Kitley Motors Montego Blue / black trim E86 Si imported earlier in the year. A lot of posters had plenty to say about that one too, two owners FSH just 70k miles, yet nothing happened. Willing seller, eager buyer. Perfect. :D

Glad you like what you’ve seen and looks like a potential purchase is imminent

I’m not making comments about the specific car but the sellers attitude. Makes it even stranger that they’ll provide you with all the information requested and won’t for another member. It’s not even like they’ve come back to him and said “we think it’s sold” or “a deal is almost done” 🤷🏼‍♂️

Have been keeping an eye on this thread and the market and feel fortunate to have found my '08 Coupe when I did last December. Just over 25k miles and in pristine condition. Kamikazee Ceramic Coated and detailed to factory condition by previous owner. Extended Leather Option with New England Leather. I did want a Silber Grau car but have since fallen in love with the Stratus Grey and it would have been silly to pass up on the best example I'd ever seen. Now at 33k miles it seems it's still one of the lowest mileage cars around. Doesn't really matter what it's worth right now as no intention of selling but it's nice to feel that it's certainly not depreciated and I think I got a terrific deal.

[ref]Penelope[/ref], yours is a stunning car and I think about how clean it looks every time I see a picture of it.

Colour combo is fantastic and I can fully understand why the value is irrelevant as it’s definitely a keeper

She'll be getting a set of Silver 19" CSLs on her next Spring with MV2s kept for winter driving.

Looks like the MOT expired in January 2019 so it may have been standing without use for quite a long time.

That looks like a great lightly used example with a good spec with Individual Ruby Black paint, piano black trim and some useful options, although sadly no Bi-Xenons.

But I just couldn't bring myself to pay that for a 3.0Si when it's heading into MC pricing even if they will have done more miles. Mine was advertised for £14K last December on 76K miles which didn't seem that leggy for a 13 year old car.

And the problem with ultra-low mileage cars is that if you put some miles on them the value plummets!

Also as good as it can look in the right light, Ruby Black is a PITA to keep clean as I found out with my 1st Coupe.

Not only that but it’s also been for sale for a long time. It was the most expensive Z4C on the market when I was looking in July and still sat at the same price. If there’s a collector out there looking for a pristine (if indeed it is pristine) low mileage example it might sell, but I’m sure most enthusiasts would prefer to save £5k and get a decent example or, as Mr Tidy says, buy an M.

This is an interesting car. A Japan import, Sport model, however with SE seats. Been on the market for a long time.

Will this be dearer to insure being an import?

Not too sure about insurance but remember that an import is worth approx 10% less than an equivalent UK car.

I don't think it is a Sport given that it doesn't have the M-Sport seats, seems to have Style 200 wheels which are 17s and were standard on the SE and not available on Sport models (in the UK anyway) plus it seems to be sitting a bit high to be a Sport - they are 15mm lower than SEs!

But it looks like a decent low-mileage example for anyone considering an SE Auto.
