Z4 23i

Hey guys, after a bit of advice on a possible 23i purchase if possible.

I've had a number of cars in the past which include Clio sport 197, Megane R26r, Honda s2000, Audi tt 3.2, and currently a 2.0 Z4 06 model.

Ideally I'm looking at either a Z4 2.5 2011 model which fits in my price range pretty good, or going for a Audi tts. I cant decide which one to go for as their both good cars in their own ways. I think the Z4 is a better buy as I can get a newer and lower milage car for the same price as an Audi. Downside being the Z4 is half the spec of the Audi in regards to sat nav, bose speakers and interior quality.

I'll be using the car for daily commuting to work (6miles each way) and just general personal use so I wont be sitting on motorways for hrs or doing high milage. Few questions I do have which id be grateful for any advice from current owners or anyone who's driven a 2.5 etc

Whats the difference in M sport spec and a Highline model?

Whats the sound system like? also can that head unit be changed? my current 06 Z4 has an appalling sound system.

I don't class myself as a lunatic driver but I do like to get the tail end out occasionally. Does the 23i have the power to get the ass end out and possibly do the occasional drift?

Last but not least! Is there any sign of a new Z4 which is due to be released which would collapse the prices of the current Z4 model or anything worth thinking about?

If theres any other advice that you guys can share id be very grateful.

Thanks.

That's because you're looking at zeds without sat nav and good spec, if you compared like for like then the zed would be the same cost if not more.

I personally always thought of the TT as a woman's car, not in a bad way as the car itself looks more masculine than even the zed but I think only a female driver can pull off the look and look good in it. Every time I see a guy driving a new TT I just assume it's his gfs car or something.

Also with regards to interior it's all personal preference. I think the interior (like in all Audi's) just look like what you'd expect in a Taxi. I always thought that Audi's are more for show with the impressive exterior and sub-par rubbery interior design but I'm sure it's also designed that way to last longer whereas all BMW interiors clap out quick.

Hi Rich83 Just a few thoughts on the 2.3i, you don't say if you'd go for manual or auto but which ever I think you would have to be brutal with the throttle to get the back end out much, because while the 6cyl engine is an absolute peach its not overly torquey, now if you were thinking of a 35i things would be very different. As for the sound system the biggest problem with the basic set up is that there's not enough volume, you can have it up to max at 70mph and still not hear it with the roof down. But if BMW had not been doing some amazing offers on the 35is I'd still happily have my 2.3i

Manual i'd go for, had dsg on my last Audi and I'm not a fan at all. I've had a look at the 35 models and I don't want to spend that much as I don't do much milage and I also do a lot of motorcycle racing so having a 300bhp doesn't really do it for me as a daily car. I was hoping the 23i would be a nice little daily run around with just enough power to have a little bit of fun in every now and again.

Have a 23i manual and love it. Sure it's not as fast (or has the exhaust note) of the 35, but it's nice as a daily driver.

Oh and I've had the back end out a few times. Just switch it to sport plus.
