e89 cant open roof to replace micro switch.can I release bypass pressure and slowley lift with wedges,any thoughts, regards Lyn
PS have just found maybe possable but need allen key to undo some locks somewhere !!!!

My z4 e89 steel roof number 2 shell wont retract to have axcess to fit new micro switches,If I release brass bypass screw half a turn,then what !! as I think there is a LOCK somewhere to sort.. your thoughts,regards
 
If you have the ski hatch you can reach the green buttoned Bowden cable on the left side of the boot with a sturdy hook or similar, it’s not easy but can be done, pull horizontally and that will release the boot lid.
 
If you haven’t got the ski hatch personally I’m not sure what to do next without some research. I’m sure it’s been documented on here if you search.
 
Right ok, sorry your writing is hard to understand. Yes release the brass pump screw, you can lift the roof but use 2 people if possible, I’ve done it solo but it’s not easy.
 
I have been searching for 3 days,,as I said hav full axcess to boot but cant find a way to raise no 2 shell to check micro switches
 
By number 2 shell I’m assuming you mean the section with the rear screen glass, if so just lift it with 2 people, it’s not heavy but it won’t lift evenly and you could bend the mechanism if you try it solo.
 
If I remember rightly it has a locking pin yes which must be engaged if the roof won’t lift. Without research I don’t know how you can unlock it I’m afraid. It’ll be on the forum if you use the search function.
