Z4 2006 OVER HEATING ISSUE PLEASE HELP

got z4 2006 2.5i bought from dealership last 3 months ago and it always overheat for over 5 kilometer but then when i stop and let cool for a minute then run again it dont overheats anymore. newly change coolant tank and check everything. still overheating like that. shop rebleed it. why is that? really frustrating

yeah it overheats. but when i stop and let it cool it back to normal i could go over 400km without a overheating

Well that sounds very much like it still has an airlock somewhere.

Good point. Is it the M54 or N52 engine. I think on a 2006 it should be N52.
Simple check, does the engine have a dipstick to check the oil?

So an electric pump.
Start the engine from cold with the expansion tank cap off. Check there is a thin jet of water entering the top of the tank, from the right side as you stand facing it. If not, then it could mean the pump is not working.

However, also check with the shop that they ran the correct automatic bleed procedure. The car runs this itself, takes about 12 minutes to run through various cycles. In fact, it's easy to do yourself.

try to rebleed it again. low fan and in heater mode. electric waterpump still working i see it splashing. however its only splash for about a couple second and then stop for atleast 2 sec. then splash again.

is the electric waterpump malfunctioning? should it splash continuesly?

the shop full service it and check and said everything working. only replaced the thermostat and coolant tank. but still having the specific issue.

does anyone experience the same?

If the outside temperature is hot, 5 kilometers is probably the distance for the engine to heat up and to need the radiator fan to come on. Is the fan running when she overheats?

It's winter season here in NZ now. even when I drive it on a cold night it still overheats really fast within a few kilometres. I think the fan works fine as well but I'll check the fan when it overheats again.

Today I drove it again for about 50 km and did not have any overheating issues. What I did was warm the engine first when the temperature hit the middle of the sensor I just turned off the car and let it sit for about 5-10 mins and the overheating gone.

However, really frustrating because I can't drive it right away

As you are in a cold climate, is the coolant at the correct concentration? There is a possibility that one of the pipes is freezing and preventing the rest of the coolant from circulating, but then melting because some of the coolant is hot. I’ve never heard of this happening but would explain your symptoms. Changing the coolant would be a cheap fix.
