Z4, 2005, 3.0, 33k Miles, Fantastic Sound System

Hi Gents,

Well... I've just made the decision to sell my beloved Z4 due to an impending house move and the consequent lack of use... its a black 3.0, 05 reg, its done 33k and has full service history...it's in superb condition inside and out etc.... I'd also suggest that this car may be of more interest to someone looking for a Sound System that is above and beyond what you'd expect from even the uprated Carver Systems..


Features :

About 2k worth of quality sound system( inc. DAB Digital Stereo/IPod compatible/Bluetooth Handsfree/2 x Subs/2 x Amps etc) professionally fitted(very discreetly) which sounds superb(original stereo and speakers will be provided too),
Its got an "M" Leather Steering Wheel and "M" Leather Gear Knob which I fitted(receipts present),
Clear indicators/brake lights fitted all round apart from the front headlights, which are Xenons btw,
Wind Deflector,
Full Black Leather all round,
18" Elipsoids,
Heated Seats,
Auto Windscreen Wipers and Auto Lights,
Taxed and Tested until 09/10,
14 Months private warranty left which is transferable,
It also had a Full RAC inspection 6000 miles ago, which was when I bought the car from a classified ad on this forum.

Currently I've got a private plate on it, which I'll be removing before its sold...

I can provide more details and photos if need be - just pm me...I'm not really in any mad rush to sell and I've not advertised it anywhere else except here...but there's no point it just sitting on a drive all summer hence the sale decision!

I'm looking for a minimum of 13k... probably best seen(and heard) to be fully appreciated!

Looks nice mate. Dont take it the wrong way but IMHO u may struggle to get no leas than 13k. I just paid 11k for a 3.0se all be it on a 2004 plate but only had done 25k still had 6 months BMW extended warrenty and loads of options like sat nav blue tooth heated seats 6 disc climit control ect ect. I only say this as obviously I have done quite a bit of looking in the last month so have an idea of what stuff is selling for. Personally as nice as the audio upgrades are I don't think they will boost value that much.

Obviously that's just my opinion and I hope I'm wrong and more money the better for you!

Re: previous post regarding the 13k price tag...I guess i'll just see what happens in terms of interest - it maybe a valid point and I appreciate that you've done a lot of research into the prices...I suppose if there's no interest on here and/or on pistonheads(eventually when i list it) within the month then I''ll drop it a little...or just do the sensible thing and take the audio system out and replace it with the original garbage system(dropping the price obviously)...

All comments welcome as usual...if you think its overpriced then please say so?!

I agree with Neil in that the guide price is probably on the optimistic side of the price range. The problem with modding a car is that it seldom adds value. In fact it often has the opposite effect and detracts a large section of potential buyers who want an untouched OEM car as opposed to one that has been altered. An updated sound system on this level could IMO detract a lot of interest as it is often (misguidedly in many instances) linked to boy racerish ownership thus the thinking that the car has been hammered a bit.

My advice would be to convert it back to stock and sell the ICE seperatly so to also.

I agree with above from the money point of view if you make it back to original you will prob get same amount of money for the car but if u sold all the kit on eBay or where ever you may make say I dunno 1k or so. You may even end up with more money than you originally wanted doing it that way.

Personally I wouldn't be put off by the ice if I was a buyer and I would like it on my car but I wouldn't pay any extra for it than a standard car. I guess I'm just not that bothered by amazing sound but maybe that's just me.

Not really a lot to add to the previous comments regarding the price other than to agree with them, unfortunately.

You would be better parting the kit out as a package, you have some bespoke items there which would drop right into a Z4, so I am sure you will find an eager buyer on here. If my car didn't have DSP (and I hasten to add I am sure your system piddles rings around the BMW so called 'upgraded' Hi Fi) I would be circling like a vulture already!

It appears to be a really nice example and it is in a very popular colour. I would aim for c. 12k without the ICE personally. The complete ICE set up has got to be worth pretty much the difference between that and the 13k you want?

thanks for the replies everyone - I imagine that the truth hurts and you're all right....I always knew the ICE was going to be a big money loser!

I think what I'll do is just drop my expectations by 1k....and hopefully the ICE won't put people off too much as all the original system\speakers are provided too...if theres no joy at this point then i'll take the ICE out, which i'm a bit loathed to do as it'll probably cost me a couple of hundred quid to get it done...which probably defeat the object! :thumbsdown:

Maybe holding on to it until the dawn of summer will be the way forward with the price too! :roll:

Yeah thats the idea now mate...thanks for everyones advice with the price!

I'm hoping that seeing it in the flesh will help secure 12k for the car...the transferable warranty will hopefully help too! :|
