]Hi to you all, this is my first trip into the forum so I hope I dont make a fool of myself.
Right here we go ..is it possible to buy an aftermarket engine oil dipstick, or to have one fitted on my 2 litre 05 z4, please.
Forgive me (I'm 65) can someone explain to me how to post a picture of my z4 I have pictures of it in my picasa folder? HELP !!

Hi and welcome to the Forum

Go into the Newbies Forum and all will be revealed with regards posting pictures etc. And an entry here with pics and details of your Zed would be great.

65 years a great age (only 1 to go for me to reach 60 :P )

As for the dipstick issue - not really possible to fit any aftermarket options as the machining required etc would be extremely cost prohibitive and I don't think it's even possible. If you have just purchased your Zed then can I suggest an oil change to start you off. You will know its full and with good quality oil. Like the rest of us on the Forum you have to rely on the electronic oil check to provide top up information. 10 years of Zed ownership and its not been a problem

Hi, Derrick! It's good to see another youthful but mature person joining the Forum. I bought my Z last October after getting a hard time from my children over my proposal to buy a motor cycle, and I don't regret it. I get my oap in July. This is a good and friendly forum, full of good advice and friendly enthusiasts. Enjoy! All the best from Lewis. :D

Though it is initially discombobulating (and once the car has informed you that it needs a top up) you do get used to the lack of dipstick.

thanks for that too Finisterre Iv'e just done my first z4 oil and filter change went very easy I bought the oil from a local company that blends lubricants and make paint (Witham oil and grease) I paid £23 for 5 litres +vat and its a proper BMW oil they tell me the oil that came out of the engine looked like diesel oil, anyway she's in good hands now, Derrick.
