It's always best to go to a dealer, might cost slightly more but the peace of mind and protection is surely worth it ?

Stratstone have some really good deals on at the moment.

That's my input on it anyway !

Don't believe everything you're told. BMW AUC offers little protection and you pay a premium for it. Those checks they tell you they do... check the car yourself, don't trust the dealer 100%. It may sound cynical but I've had two AUC's and both have had issues that should have been picked up by a 10 year old doing the 'pre sales checks'.

Totally agree, you still need to use your own sense. However warranty extensions etc. are worthwhile.

I dare say you'd have more swing to 'snitch' up a dealer to BMW main office in the event of any issues.

My current car was brought from a dealers and I know that they haven't run it on the correct octane fuel, this meant when I first had it, it ran really lumpy.

So to summarise I agree dealers are no angels but they are certainly no less trustworthy thana private ebay seller

Not at all.... But might be a deal i cant turn down..;)

I asked about the 4 owners....He says its had 2 and the 4 is a typo....Hmmm,we will see.

APPARENTLY.... It was a pre reg and stood in the dealership as a show car (hence the spec)..

Then it had 2 more owners...The last one owning it since last summer..

Tell me where to go as a newbie, but if you really like it you must get a full HPI check for protection. That story doesn't sound that bad. However you never know :)

Oh yes...

Of course i would... Im not new to Z ownership so i know the procedure...

I was just keen to know the forums thoughts on pricing as im not good on E89 pricing..

You're from the right part of the world for a Z anyway, I'm based in Derby city so not too far up to the peaks for some fun when the weather is good

Usually I've found BMW AUCs OK, as said you do need to give the car a thorough going over, however I've found any minor probs the dealer has sorted before delivery with no issues. Depends on the dealer at the end of the day but found mine spot on, even painted the rusty hubs on my old 1 Series and touched in the odd stone chips in the body shop.

I feel you would have more recourse from a franchised dealer than a non franchise. Still alot of readies should the car be a lemon and the non franchise dealer doesn't want to know.

Tim.
