The car would make for an ideal concours project. I own a 97.5/100 Aston Martin Owners Club winner, and I would say that it’s simply about hard work, detailing, a repaint of callipers and hubs, and bits of paint which have age related scuffs and typical stone chipping. It really is a fabulous example and now an appreciating asset
History
GW04 RFN was bought new from Vines of Guildford on 18th May 2004
The owners moved to Dubai in 2007 and the car was put into storage in a facility in Surrey, and occasionally run on a private track as part of the arrangement
In 2014 the second owners saw the car in storage in Surrey, and enquired if the car was available to buy, as they wanted an open-top roaster to travel to Europe to find a new home in the sun
A deal was agreed and CMW Car Sales handled the recommission and sale of the car to a Mr & Mrs Lown of Biggin Hill in Kent at 8,495 miles
The car was registered under the registration MR5 1OWN (“Mrs Lown”)
Mr & Mrs Lown covered circa 10,000 miles around Europe and was serviced by SF Engineering in September 2016 at 18,569 miles ahead of putting the car up for sale
We bought the car in October 2016, and my local garage, Smithy Garage gave the car a clean bill of health
The car was registered under the registration NO0 4 JAH (“New for JAH” – my wife), it is her third BMW roadster having owned new Z3 and Z4 cars
We have used the car sparingly, garaged with our Aston Martin cars
It has been a joy to own, but it is part of our general downsizing and we already have an Aston Martin convertible which we are keeping
We have a second grandchild, and a new Mini Countryman arrived today for Nan!
The car has always been monitored by our local dealership Smithy Garage on a ‘needs must’/advisory/oil change basis we have never felt the need for further major servicing due to the low annual mileage
No issues, aside of the car appears to have taken exception to being left outside since the builders turned up on site two weeks ago. The car has been outside in the drive and not in the garage and condensation has appeared behind one of the headlight lenses!
