Z4 2.2 or 2.5 wanted

Hi guys,
Been on the lookout but yet to find the car for me,
Looking at either 2.2i se or 2.5i se
Under 100k
FSH
18"alloys
Not silver...
anyone got anything? Was hoping to view this weekend.

Good luck with your search. The 2:2 and 2:5 - 6 cylinder engines are both a very good choice. :thumbsup:

However You'll get plenty of replies dismissing them saying the 3:0 is the only one to buy. :x
 
Why a 2.2? This engine was superseded by the 2.0i. I have never driven a 2.2 but by accounts I have read the 2.0 is a much smoother and nicer engine to live with, power delivery, economy etc. and don't listen to the 4 pot haters who have never driven one! Test drive both.

The debate begins.
Nowt wrong with the 4pot 2:0 :thumbsup: it can have its problems though with some exhaust manifolds cracking and engine management lights can cause problems.
The 2:2 is a lovely 6 pot that's as smooth as a gravy sandwich with plenty of tourqes :thumbsup:
 
I their day the M54 six pots won 'smoothest engine ever' awards based on NVH tests and due to lower masses the 2.2 was the smoothest of the bunch. Funnily enough the first Zed I test drove was a 2.2 and the sound and turbine-like smoothness are what sold me on the six, although the lighter front of the 2.0 felt slightly more nimble.

As it turns out the M54 is gaining a rep for being one of BMW's most reliable units, anybody recall the last time a member needed a serious re-build other than the very occassional head due to neglected cooling? Solid choice :thumbsup:
 
You sent me a PM and I responded, with a link to my car, which comes with all your asking for ,apart from its silver,it's just been serviced had new disc and pads and new rear spring , but I've not heard back from you ? If silver is a real problem for you then that's fine, but everything else is immaculate and you'd be hard pressed to find a better one.
 
mine is up for sale in the next few days.

2.2 straight six with fsh.
new discs and pads around 2000 miles ago.
it is silver HOWEVER has been wrapped a rare 3m blue (shall get photos)
it is on gloss black 16" wheels
and at just over 106,000 miles.
does included retrimmed interior items to neaten it up.

may have something to suit , 2.5 SE 04 reg 72k 10 months MOT metallic blue but only 16 " wheels , newish tyres all-round ,
What's your budget ?
 
Just noticed your previous thread , and your budget and location, I am TS8 , forgot to mention all brake disc new last MOT no advisories .

Cheers guys, I am currently in the process of buying a 2.2i se z4, should all go to plan I shall be driving it within 2 weeks, cheers for everyone's help though. Should it go to pot I shall come back on and re visit your adverts!
