Z4 2.0L notchy 1st and 2nd gear selection

I've just bought my first Z4, a 2005 2 litre with only 10,000 miles and from a BMW dealer. She drives like a dream but gear selection going into 1st can be notchy and the same between 1st and 2nd - all other gears select like a hot knife in butter. Is this typical or maybe due to the relatively low mileage - experienced owner views would be welcome. :?

welcome to the club, from personal experience and from what i have read on here its 'the nature of the beast'....it does take some getting used to but you will master it eventually.

Just watch out for 1st/reverse! The first BMW I owned, I would shift into Reverse at a light instead of 1st. Talk about embarrasing!!!!!!! (usually happened when I was annoyed and pulled it just a bit too hard to the left, )

Have fun, BMWs will spoil you to other marques.
