Z4 2.0i SE manifold crack

Hi,

I recently bought a BMW Z4 from an unscrupulous seller. He failed to mention that the manifold had a crack in it. My fault really, I should have insisted the car was cold before I listened to the engine. However, that said I'm loving the car but obviously need the cheapest fix.

What are my options? I have looked for a stainless but cant find 2.0, any other engine are only looking at 200 quids......... Welding, the garage I spoke to said it would warp but I've seen posts suggesting that they have had a weld done? Very confusing. Is anyone from Surrey area and have been through this problem.

Some guidance would be great!!

Kindest

The sale of goods act is your friend here. I can't remember the exact timescale but you can assume a fault like that was pre-existing and ask them to repair it

Welcome to the forum btw!

Hi,

Thanks...... Should have joined before I bought! Thanks for the advice but, I bought private. I dont expect there are any come backs when buying private....... even though he lied.

Other than this the car is immaculate, 46,000 serviced miles. Aero bumper........

I'm going to drop it at a garage Monday to see if they will weld it?

Hi, me too looking for stainless manifold (want make my 2.0 supercharged) but not exist for n46 engine :(

Think a new OEM manifold is the order of the day....

Agree - for peace of mind if nothing else. Indie may be the way to go for the cheapest option. Part from Sopers in Lincoln for the cheapest deal for the manifold.

AND welcome to the Forum.

Thanks for the welcomes.....

Excuse my ignorance but whats a new OEM manifold?

Got a price for fitting a new one today. £1035 lots of dosh.......

May be the only option for one with warranty.

Seems sports exhausts dont exist for the 2.0L........ madness

OEM is original equipment manufacturer,i had mine done a while back oem from an indy £600 iirc

Welcome to the forum, indy means an independant supplier be it garage or parts where these tend to be cheaper, as opposed to a pucker BMW garage/parts where you pay through the nose for the same service/parts.
Dealers are nicknamed 'stealers' for good reason.
