Z4 2.0i Roadster

Hi everybody, just got my 2008 Z4, excited. Hopefully someone can help. This only came with the unlocking nut for the Wheels
nothing else. Should there be a tool for the rest of the nuts. Thanks in advance. Sue :)

Standard toolkits rarely main intact after this length of time so chances are it may be missing, just get yourself a decent 17mm socket for wheel removal, plastic coated one is best to avoid wheel damage..something like this

Welcome aboard Sue.
Not sure there ever was a tool for the nuts tbh. The locking adaptor is intended to allow the use of a standard socket, as shown by [ref]mr.tourette[/ref].
If you have breakdown cover and won't need to remove a wheel yourself, then just the locking adaptor will suffice. (Worth a quick check to be sure it does fit  )
If you want to be self-sufficient then look for one of the telescopic wrenches to fit the 17mm bolt heads.
The idea of these is that you do the nut up with it at its shortest length so you don't over-tighten them. you extend it to undo the bolts if they are on too tight.

Oh, and may I be the first to say...................... where are the photos? :D

EDIT: A warning for you. They are bolts, not nuts, so if you do undo them the wheel will fall straight off, usually via your shin!
Also means they are a beggar to lift back on, as no studs sticking out to hang them on.

Ah yes Rob, A far better idea.
I toyed with all sorts of comments about having a stud to hand, but seeing as Sue is new here I refrained........................... until now.

Where did you order these from Smartbear?

Hi and welcome to the forum Sue.

The standard "tool-kit" for a Z4 consists of a towing eye, double-ended screwdriver, a spanner that is 10mm one end and 13mm the other end plus the "key" for the locking wheel bolts. Because they all had run-flat tyres as standard I suppose BMW didn't see any need to supply a wheel-brace or jack!

If you don't have the screw-in towing eye it might be worth finding one just in case, but hopefully you'll never neeed it.

Anyway it's good to hear you are enjoying your Z. :driving:

Now did anyone mention photos yet?

This sort of thing, worth getting 2 as it stops the wheel swing from a single one that’s not centred properly https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/333467749037

They're a bargain Rob, and 2 must make life so much easier.

I paid MachineMonkey £10 for one of his.
