Z4 2.0 poor mpg?

Hi guys,

I'm onto my 2nd z4 2.0 (2007 m sport) - really happy with it :)

However, the first car seemed to do approx 34mpg in my current driving conditions (mainly short urban runs)

This car seems to only get 26 mpg ish for very similar conditions and generally seems worse mpg wise.

Perhaps it's the colder weather but seems odd. Is there anything I can look into that can affect mpg, perhaps sensors? Catalyst?

(I did have an emmissions light up for cat bank 2)

Cheers :-)

Unless you're leaving it in first second and third it should be higher than that. . . .Worth having things checked - running rich?

Let us know if you do get an answer.

:driving:

It should improve when the weather gets hotter, reset the trip comp in a couple of months time & see how it does.
Regards

mine usually floats around the 30 mark... 26-30 if i put my foot down and anywhere up to 40 if i do motorway miles and drive sensible(boring)

hope that helps?

2008 2.0i 55k miles with all the m sport stuff

I'm getting 32mpg at the moment. Mostly short runs to work - about 7 miles each way, mostly in 40mph limit :(
Rises to 34+ in summer

Is it due a service? If it's needing new plugs/air filter etc it won't be giving its best.

Just had inspection 2 just before I bought it so should be good -

interestingly when I checked mot history, the dealer put it through pre purchase and it failed for emmissions, then was put in again same day and passed :s

What did you do when the emission light came on?

Local indie said fault was cat bank 2 and would need whole replacement cat at a cost of approx £750 for the part

I've used fault code reader to clear it for now until I decide what to do...

Not sure if this would effect mpg?

Yeah pretty sure my old one sat around 32/34 mpg in urban driving - this one seems low

i get about 30-35mpg
i got a 2.0 2007 z4

I'm suprised how closely the 3.0 gets to these figures, around town mine dose 27-30. As long as your not to enthusiastic with your right foot, if you are then it's been down as low as 18. But on the motorway i've hit 40 mpg a few times and it's always high 30's. Considering that's doing 70-80 ( i mean 70 :) ) all the way it is very impressive for such a large engine.
