Z4 06 vs 07 mpg?

I looked on fueleconomy.gov and it shows the 07 z4 having 1mpg better on the highway than an 06...did they retune the engine or something?

They used a different testing procedures for '07.

No difference between the '06 and '07. It wasn't until MY08 that the Z4 got the efficient dynamics treatment.

Yeah... but not on the Ms.

The site actually shows the old and the new method of testing and the 07 get better mpg in both methods of testing...

Check again. Both '06 & '07 3.0Si's manual get 18mpg/28mpg.

Man, did they underestimate that! I routinely get more than 30 mpg on the highway and in mixed driving (granted, no really bad stop and roll stretches) right around 28 in my coupe burning premium gas.

I just checked again and the SI for 07 gets 18/28 with 22 combined and the 06 gets 18/27 with 21 combined..

I don't have a photobucket account created so I just copied the numbers below (I know, not the prettiest). I am choosing a 3.0i automatic...I am guessing you are choosing a manual. So that means something must have changes with the auto trasnmissions between 06 and 07....maybe like another poster said the final drive gear?

1mpg will not affect the purchase of the car. Now I am just curious more than anything else. I thought this would be an easy answer for you experts! I appreciate your time.

Different tires/rim types? Different options on one model vs the other? Different testing conditions (wind)?

The answer IS easy. THERE'S NO DIFFERENCE. Two group of people have been telling you the same thing on zpost & z4-forum and you refuse to listen. There's no change in gearing or anything else that could affect the gas mileage.

You could have 2 exact same '06 3.0si built literally back to back off the production line and they could have different MPG's. You could test one single car on different days on different machines and it could get you different MPG's.

Bottom line - there's NO DIFFERENCE BETWEEN '06 & '07 Si's. :headbang: :tumbleweed: :headbang:
