Z3 to Z4

Hi,

Since having my Z4, I have become interested in all things Z. I have been looking around at the Z3s which I think are gorgeous too. There are quite a few for sale and you can pick one up really quite cheap.
This may be good for a fun second soft top that you can park where you like and not worry the heck about it all the time. (like I worry about my Z4 all the time when in any public place)

I was wondering if anyone has graduated from a Z3 to a Z4 and how they find the 2 compared to each other?

The Z3 is really growing on me, it could be fun.

Cheers

I went from a Z3 to an M3 to a Z4 (E89)

The seats in a Z3 are killers after two hours.( I had all the M sport stuff except the engine in my Z3. )

It was a great little car and I think about getting another one all the time.

It has to be a 3.0i 225hp or an M if you can find one. The others are gutless and you won't be happy.

Hi Seggy. I graduated from a 2.8 Z3 which I had for a couple of years. It was a sterling grey 'W' plater with all the specs needed (heated seats, changer, chrome pack, 18" staggered wheels etc). Was a thing of beauty, although had to sell due to work at the time and move to a 330i. Sold that a month or so ago and was going to go back to either a 2.8, 3.0 or M Z3 - however I couldn't find one that I liked colour wise or age. Pre-1999/2000 they tend to be quite dated inside (after my 2001 330i anyway), and part of me was always going to be worried about the plastic rear screen (I got broken into a year or so ago and a new roof sent me back £400).

For me - comparatively, the Z4 feels tighter and more refined whereas the Z3 felt a little rawer. Seemed to 'boom' more too although I haven't yet done the sound generator mod on my current car. Straight 6 on both are bulletproof and with plenty of power.

The Z4 was more money but it feels more of a modern car and I'm of course loving the styling and the glass rear screen. The Z3, imo anyway, is a great looking way to start roadster action.

Check out zroadster.net as a specialised forum if you haven't already.

Hope thats of some use. :)

Looks like a real nice car. I had a light blue/green (wasn't quite sure) Z3 behind me today with the top down and I felt a great sense om camaraderie with the driver.
I think their design is still really fresh yet classic.
Seen a few metallic dark blue ones on the net with chrome shark gills and window pilars etc and they look super cool. They cost less than a third of my Z4.
My Z4 is my first ever sports car and first ever soft top. Once you get into this type of car, then you eye does start to wander a bit :-).
