Z3 2.8i Steel Grey

Lovely car  I used to have a 1987 2.8i and it is a great engine and the only reason I sold it was to upgrade to a Z3MR :driving:
 It was the first BMW engine I ever owned over ten years ago. Since then and after similar route, this is Beemer No. 8

Mine was a 1993 530 V8 which was nice until cylinder wear meant a new engine which BMW gave me but I had to pay for fitting! I changed it for a 99 528i which must have been the facelift Z3 unit? Beemer number 19 here :D

Looking lovely bud. I've used mine more than the other two this last two weeks. Love the feedback it gives.

Ah ha Inkey$, so this is is your new love, very nice.

Safe driving

Thank you gents. My aim to make her the cleanest, fittest and subtly meanest Z3 in old London Town.

Currently the project is ongoing and at suspension stage. To help me on my mission, springs arrived yesterday ready for a future 30mm drop :D

What a cracker!

I do miss my Z3 from time to time.

I see you have the M Sport Seats aswell 👍🏽

Regular Sport Seats as opposed to M Sport Seats (which feature a rib). Super comfortable but I do need to sort the seat bushes out as they are really worn!

I've just finished tuning a 2.8 from 199bhp to 224bhp. Mostly bolt on mods with a final tune to tie it all in.
I'd be interested to hear more, Joycey.

To get you started look for the M50 manifold from the 2.5. This will unlock quite a bit of power from the mid range. Next open out the throttle body even an ASC delete. I’ve done a thread on zorg with dyno results after each mod. Good to see the bhp climb.

Next part of my revised suspension and bushes setup arrived today. ARB bushes, front and back.

Little update two years on from buying the 2.8 Z3.

After this post I bought and sold an E30 325i vert, before bringing the Zed back out of storage last September. Now have a matching hardtop and have just lowered the car by 30mm (Bilstein B4 + Eibach Pro), done all bushes and widened the rear track by 10mm. IMO she now sits perfectly and handles like a dream.

As is customary with me, I’m still addicted to car shopping and miss the M engine. Very nearly bought another Z3M Coupe two weeks ago but pulled out at the last minute. With the ULEZ heading my way next October, I’m now thinking of keeping the Z3 tucked up in the garage for future very occasional use and purchasing a Z4 coupe for my non-family car duties.

Anyway here are some pics of the Z3. Just had an oil service and flew through it latest MOT.

Cheers Tom and hope all is well with you. Manchester trips are scarce at the moment, but when things return to near normal again I’ll drop you a line if I ever get up there again.
