Z Respray Costs

Afternoon all,

Just had a quote for the following. I am in Surrey and prices seem to be strong. Wanted thoughts on what others have paid? Wing is slightly the wrong shade but perfect condition, needs redoing. Bumper has a smart repair type scuff six inches long. Wheels (108s) are just starting to bubble.

Front bumper (Repair Paint Complete)
£350+VAT

Left front wing (Paint)
Left front door (Blend)
£400+VAT

X4 Split Rims Refurbished
£150+VAT (per wheel)
 
Presumably you would drive the car in and they would remove and re install? Might be able to save some by taking them in off of the car?

I had a bumper re sprayed and it cost about 300 in E Sussex including removal and re fit. I thought that was toppy but got several quotes and was surprised at how much the going rates are to be honest.

Obviously the split rim wheels will be labour intensive so I’d say that’s fair enough.

On the other hand break it down into labour hours and it’s probably about right?
 
I'd say you won't get the refurb on the 108s done for much less if you want a decent job (and you don't split for them).

Yeah he has said if I just repair the bumper corner and don't do the whole thing, £575+VAT for the paintwork. Seems fair enough.

The wheels are beefy to refurb so might eBay and change them for another set! They aren't bad at all as things go
 
Front bumper is fine i was paying £300 many moons ago but it was a very good body shop.

108s i paid £600 at Leppsons at the end of the day its not cheap but at £500 a wheel for a 108 rim its a lot cheaper than a new set.
 
Just had both sides and the bonnet done. I fitted 2 genuine second hand wings myself. The guy removed and refitted the side skirts himself after painting. Both wings had a few small dents that needed addressed along with a few parking dings on the passenger door. All in I was £700.
 
Where are you getting these quotes?
I had two quotes for a single wing and they were both 1200+

That did include blending in the door too.

One was just outside Lewes and the other was in Crawley.

I would be happy to pay 350 to 500 to get it sorted but not 1200!
 
My neighbour also has a z4 and has just had 108s refurbed in Farnham. They looked perfect to me. He said they charge £100 for split rims and £80 for one piece. If you’re interested, I can find out who did it over the weekend.
 
Thanks guys. Refurbed 108s seem to be £750 on eBay, so at that price... worth buying a new set and selling the old ones to recoup some of the cash. They’re tidy enough for now.

Reading this my end of town is cheep, my Z is in next week for a full respray for 1200, good body shop as well his work is great, Scotland... I will post

That’s per wheel. I wouldn’t trust anyone to do a full refurb on a 108 for £25.

My sister's best friend Husband's owns a wheel refurbishment place and he gave us a mates rate (really dirt cheep price) of 50 pounds each a wheel for a 108. And I think he begrudgingly gave her that price for me because it's a s**t load of work (I will pay him more).

If someone is offering 100 for all 4 then they are skipping something out of the process for sure.

There is a guy in Lincoln on Facebook called Simon Ireland who sells 108's with tyres for around the 600 quid mark. He also often bangs them on eBay with no reserve and I see them go for anywhere upwards from 500 quid. (I assume it's him as the seller is in Lincoln)

That's one of his adverts and you can find him from there. I don't know him so I can't say anything about his work.

750 does seem a little steep for a set in my opinion.

He charged me £110 for a set of 4 MV2’s in chrome black and my manager £120 for a set of Jag wheels in chrome silver

He will do them via post or if you ask he will do them while you wait but it is a long day you need to be there as they open and wait.....

That included sorting out the tyres and balancing but I live (when in Cleethorpes) a mile away so left them with him for a week

Hailsham auto body repair on Diplocks Estate. Did a top job of my bumper for 300

I was getting rediculous quotes... I guess body shops are used to rinsing insurance companies day in day out
