Ok, Sat night I had my car broken into....and yes I think I may have left the car open.....car has had a good going thru, and in the boot was my bag with cards, some cash, passport, drivers licence etc....and car books, service etc...

No sign of forced entry hence why I think I may have left it open, on my driveway...

So, passport, credit cards and other bits and pieces found up the road....but no manuals, may have had log book in there too, and my drivers licence gone too.

Question is.....do you think the tossers may apply for a new key and come back and take it?

Dealers say they need log book, photo ID and two forms of proof of address....

Any thoughts??

sorry but my first thoughts are ' why the f*** did you leave the log book in the car'

So sorry to hear this Nick....

Once reported to BMW can they not prevent any dealerships coding a new key?

If you have left the V5 in there i would be onto the DVLA right way, get a duplicate and the old logbook ref scrapped from the system.

Also are you sure you didnt have any house keys in the car too?

Also just in case i would lock the car in a garage/ office for the time being.

Will order new log book tomorrow....just wanted to be sure if I hadn't left it elsewhere....

I will park another car across the drive way...as don't have a garage etc....

nick you dipstick

could of been worse mate could of wrecked it.

Make sure you lock the other car :D

I thought some cars self lock after a period of time ?

Self lock facility was not enabled on the car ...it is now!

Dealers can blank the keys if someone else got them....but if they were looking to con anyone they would have taken my passport too,...and maybe my credit cards....

Your picture is too ugly for any use to anyone :D

Should have gone to Germany, would not have happened then :P

PVR<======SLAP!

Thanks mate!

On options menu on idrive you can activate the self lock facility....

Nightmare, suggest torch strapped to balaclava and loaded 12 bore, lots of coffee and little sleep but pepper the buggers with shot if they come back

The scroats must have thought it was their lucky day when they tried your door if you really did leave it unlocked! Scary to think that people might just wander along trying doors on cars....

Glad your car was undamaged though!

Well if they were after the car, they would have kept my passport and credit cards as further ID, the licence was concealed in a credit card holder, so perhaps why not thrown out....let's see. Will order new log book and licence tomorrow...and make DVLA aware....and no I would even tell me insurance company I was getting a friction haircut let alone this happening!!
