I guess this has been asked a thousand times:-

New tyres are needed, do I stick with the horrible run flats or change to normal tyres?

And, assuming a recommendation to change what brand, the tyres are 225/55 r17, is recommended?

thanks, in advance

cost of 4 normal tyres = 2 runflats.

Didtch them and drive a new car, it's well worth it as everyone else will say, except Gannet :poke:

Hi,

Dump RFT and Move to either Falken 452's or Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymetric's :)

The latter is more expensive, but better rim protection. Both have been vouched for on here. Im getting Eagles soon after a refurb of alloys.

Good Sites: Camskill, Mytyres.co.uk and blackcircle. At the moment Mytyres only seem to have the eagles front and back.

Hope that helps.

Steve

pauld - welcome. This has as you suspect been covered many times in great detail.

Run a few searches and you'll see al the alternative, spares/tyreweld options, etc.

my reputation preceeds me

Ive no doubt normal tyres are a league better than the bridgestone RFT - I could not wait to get shot of them. I just did not want to have the compromise of having to cart around either another spare or tyre goo. Took the plunge with a different brand and havent looked back

So if you fancy sticking with RFT's give the Michelin PS2 ZP's a try you wont regret it

I wont deny they are expensive though :o

4 x Michelin PS2 non runflats fitted yesterday

what a transformation, and at £100.00 each fitted etc I am very pleased.

Oh and a voucher for £25.00 of fuel

So after my initial enthusiasm about the new tyres I went for a drive down the motorway today.

Whilst the ride is much improved at high speed the lack of feeling through the steering etc was unnerving, and at runabouts the back was losing traction as if on ice.

Stopped at a petrol station and checked the tyre pressures:- 50 psi on the back and 47 psi on the front.

And the tyre fitters said they are professionals!

The pressures are now 32(rear) and 30(front) and now the Zed has transformed ride and 'normal' handling.

Hi, can I ask where you got them for £100 per corner? Kwik-Fit are doing 4 x 225/45/17 PS2s for just over £420 but by the time you add fitting etc it comes to £460, though you do get the £25 fuel voucher. Cheers.
