Your Paris top tips

I realise Ruby has an underground phobia thing but is the Catacombes worth a visit?

Yes and no - In the sense it's something to tick off a bucket list, but is somewhat macabre and odd. Not a top romantic trip destination, unless you're taking Morticia Addams for a date.

Unfortunately due to todays terrible attack in Paris I've cancelled my trip - was due to fly tomorrow morning. Such sad news. Thank you all for your input on this thread.

It's my birthday tomorrow and it was a trip for that really. We lost some money but we don't feel comfortable going so will write that off. Looking for a spa hotel in the UK now as a back up plan.
Lots of thoughts with the French people, so tragic :(

That's a shame Ruby. Probably the sensible thing to do though. Paris will still be there in a few months time and I would expect there are all sorts of irritating , but understandable, travel restrictions, around France, until the current situation is resolved.

Spa hotel in the UK? Just got back from Cameron House Hotel on Loch Lomond, the Carrick spa there is pretty damn awesome! Happy Birthday!

Very unfortunate Ruby but a wise decision. If still looking for somewhere a lovely place with separate spa in the grounds, excellent food and fabulous surroundings is Stapleford Park and not too far from you but far enough to enjoy.

That's a shame Ruby its a beautiful city and I'm sure you'll enjoy it sometime soon. I'm in Paris airport this morning and businesses is very much as usual.

When you replan you'll have a great time - I work here quite a bit over the years. My wife likes Montmatre Im less keen I prefer Le rivière Gauche and favourite museum is Musee D'Orsay , there is a new Luisa Vuitton institute which has opened a Parisienne Guggenheim which my French buddies are raving about,

 I love Paris. Despite the appalling atrocity of yesterday it won't stop me visiting again, in fact if anything makes me feel more motivated to go. Life's gotta go on...

Feel exactly the same half contemplated skipping my connecting flight and heading into town .. But Mrs Zermatt would have had stern words!

Thats a shame Ruby.. but as others have pointed out it will still be there in a couple of weeks.

Happy birthday too :bday:
