Firstly, hello all! Just signed up and hopefully will become a loyal member.

I say hopefully, as I'm considering buying a Z4 and would grately appreciate your opinions if you choose to disclose them. The details of the car are below and I've also got a few questions to go along.

BMW Z4 Sport 2.0
08 plate
18'000 miles
Full leather interior
12 months MOT with no advisories
6 months tax

Asking price of 11'000 but have got the seller down to 10'500.

What do you guys think? Also, the vehicle is yet to be serviced in its life - the seller says its due at 24'000 which I'm quite apprehensive about. Also, how easy is it to enable music connectivity between my iPhone and the cars music system?

Check the service book, I think it should have an oil service every 2 years if the service interval is not mileage based.

Theres a used vehicle checklist ling in my signature which you may find useful to work through when looking at pre owned Zeds :)

Service: Zeds are mileage based or time based whichever comes first. On an 08 plate it should have had an oil and brake flid change at 2 years and a second oil and brake fluid change at 4 years i.e. sometime this year. So it is potentially missing a service and perhaps 2 dependent on date of registration. Certinly a bargaining point but may well indicate an owner who has not bothered to check on the service requirements.....!

IPod Connection: A search on here will link you to numerous threads on various methods of connection - some easier and more successful than others. Personal choice which you would choose.

The 2 litre has the 4 cylinder engine which is OK but certainly worth considering the 6 cylinder in the higher cc capacities 2.2, 2.5 and 3.O but of course insurance will increase and which may be a factor. The 6 cylinder engine gives a much smoother ride and drive in my opinion and certainly better and smoother acceleration.

24,000 or 2 years at the most, personally that would put me off buying in less it was considerably cheap!
 
Thanks for the gen guys. He's just sent me a picture of the service book. It was given an oil, brake fluid and micro filter service in October 2010. Going off the information you've provided, does this mean another one is due now?

It'll be due another in October or earlier if it's miles are unevenly spread. The speedo will give a mileage countdown when you turn on the ignition.

First service you have seen is the time based service - correctly done at the 2 year point (if the vehicle was first registered in October 2008. Next service would be due either based on mileage (and the computer will tell you this when you first turn on the ignition) or if this mileage is not reached a second time based service at 4 years from registration.
 
Nice low mileage. If it has had its first service, I would say that it sounds pretty good...
 
Have to say I would not touch a car over 10 grand & no service history :thumbsdown: still there are plenty of z'ds about & as stated-the six cylinder engines sound great,so might be worth test driving afew :thumbsup: & welcome to the great site
 
Welcome to the forum. Sounds like you need to be careful with this one. Why not take a look at a 6-pot and have a bit more below your right foot?
