my most memorbale moment in my M was in summer this year, i was on a back road in staffordshire, and came across a f360 spider in black, i was behind him, the gentle drive slowly got faster and faster, its very early on a sunday morning so litterally deserted, were both at maximum attack, the ferrari driver was amazing, using all the revs, using all the power, using the car like a precision tool, im in the M, engine screaming, i can hear the 360s V8 banging the limiter, slight blue flames popping from the inner tailpipes, i can smell the hot fumes, then we both reach a familar road ahead theirs a round about that can be had at max speed if you dare, im certain at this point that this guys going to slow, im rite on him and he cant shake me, then we get to the round about, i ease the revs slightly to allow him clear space for a clean line and pow, he snaps sideways, the cars at an impossible angle, im slowed now in shock what im seeing, i can see it ending in tears but the ferrari then snaps the other way, banging the limiter all the way through this slide, the car levels up and just perfectly arcs off up the road, im laughing my head off, the driver puts his thumb up and slowly short shifts off into the distance. ive got the tyre marks that i took with my iphone as my computer background. my most memorbale drive. whats yours????

Not had mine all that long and only relatively recently had the 1,200 mile service.

Most memorable so far was a trip to Edinburgh when I took the A701 from Moffat to Leadburn. It was dry and sunny, the road was quiet (it usually is :) ) and it was my first proper post-1,200 mile trip.

I'm still getting to grips with the car's capabilities (it's the most poweful car I've owned so I'm still trating it with a lot of respect) but just couldn't believe how rapid it was and how well it gripped and braked. I also couldn't quite believe just how nasty the man in the white car with the blue lights on top was when he invited me to step out of the car to have a chat with him.

Actually, I made that last bit up but this car sure tempts you into the sort of driving that is likely to lead to a spot of collar-feeling.

I am guessing that is a compliment  The Dragon and Blue Ridge mountains are a fantastic drive with wonderful scenery! Even better when a group of Z's get to enjoy the fun together :driving: :D :D

Driver training day on the Prodrive circuit in Warwick.....you've not properly driven your Z4 M until you've done a 360 degree spin!!!!

That sounds like fun!

My best drive was over a long weekend so I hope that still counts.

Over to the Ring. Few laps few beers. Down the Autobahn. Over the Alps. Stop at lake Como. Few beers. Day in a speedboat. Few beers. Up and down the Stelvio a few times. Back up the Autobahn to Germany and a few more laps of the Ring. Few beers. Next day drive home.

Phew!

Oh quite enjoyed my day at Prodrive too!

Glasgow to Newcastle - Ferry to Amsterdam
Amsterdam to St. Moritz in one day via the autobahns.. Arrived 12.30am. Few whiskys at our Hotel which happened to have the World's Biggest Whisky Bar (happy days!).

StMoritz to Como via the San Bernadino Pass. (A very long way round but worth every minute)

Como to Nice using the coast road.

3 days on Cote D'Azur for the Monaco Grand Prix.

Monaco to Adenau, Germany. (to sleep and prepare for the 'Ring)

Nurburgring to Cologne for night out.

Cologne to Amsterdam for ferry home.

3500 miles of autobahn and hairpins like this....

For me its a toss-up.

Either my first time to 270 kph on the Autobahns, or the drive from Fairfax VA, to Manchester NH for completely opposite reasons. The autobahn drives were fun as hell, the 12 hour drive from VA to NH was long boring and depressing, but I'll never forget it!

Buying the car and then heading out to the Ring 3 days later. Scaring myself silly for the first couple of laps following two BMW instructors from BMW Norway in their Z4Coupe 3.0 Si. Then staying on the back of the Ting Raxi for a whole lap. Coming to the barriers only to discover that it was driven by Sabine  who was not too pleased. Flashing the other driver in the Ting Raxi out of the way on the approach to SX :P On the return we did Cologne to Dunkerque in 2hrs 40mins in a convoy consisting of a 500E, 928CS and E46 M3 CSL

Still enjoy driving it, 30k miles later... :driving:

The first time I sat in the drivers seat and started the engine! I will never forget pulling out of Fletcher BMW and heading for Virginia. Only problem was RPM restrictions for 1200 miles.

For me 2 days at Spa. Amazing circuit. Overtaking Porches and Prodrive Aston Vantage. Be blown aside as a racing DBR9 shoots past. I love that place. Felt sorry for the owner of the 360 Stradale who put it in the wall. The M Coupe held it's own. Did a set of Pagids and finished off my discs. It was worth it. Eau Rouge is the ultimate!

Ive got many memorable drives, some good, some bad :) Homecoming 08 was a BLAST the dragon was great, the backroads were a blast, but the drive home was even better. While at homecoming I met lots of great people, two of which I caravaned home with. Considering the rarity of the z4 coupes, Imagine driving with two others for a couple hundred miles. Let me tell you when two blue coupes, and an super bright orange one pull up in a rearview mirror, people tend to get out of the high speed lane :)

On the "bad side" I had a run in with a semi in the rain almost a year ago now...

I was in the fast lane and hydroplaned (probably about 55 mph) I went sideways, caught traction, and went forward driving into the side of the rear tires on a semi trucks trailer. If I had been further forward I would have driven under the trailer. The truck never stopped, I am told he probably didnt even feel it. no police report was filed even though the police were called, and on the scene.

Last May (God it seems a long time ago) lovely sunny day and early into Wales for hours of driving including the Evo triangle. Car was touched by the Gods that day and made me feel like a driving legend :D

Great drive: The day I went to Germany to pick up my Z4M... The 6 hours drive home was great! With a lot of highway with no speed limit :)

Best drive: first time I went to the Nürburgring with the Z4M...

Welsh weekender this April
Weather was superb, we did the roads around snowden on Saturday and the evo triangle Sunday, best memory was keeping a bright orange gallardo behind me, I know he was faster but he wasn't fast enough to get past and believe me he was trying :D

Way to resurrect an ancient thread!

Not my most memorable drive but definitely one of my smuggest moments, on a VERY twisty bit of tarmac, leading a convoy consisting of a modified Noble M12 with circa 500hp that was the car behind me, a 750+hp 997 911 Turbo cabrio, 800+ hp Supra, Ferrari 360 Modena, turbo RX7 (though stock) and a 977 911 Carrera 2S and no one could keep up.

At one point i see the Noble from my rear-view mirror stopping at the side of the road and thought to my self something went wrong! I stop and sprint to him to see if he's OK, as soon as i near the car i get the unmistakable smell of cooked brakes. He says he fried them and couldnt keep up. My pads didnt smell at all...

It was a good day. Until my throttle actuator went kaput on the way home but that's another story...
