& I vaguely remember having this about the same time, you could put BASIC into it but it was utterly pointless, but portable. lol.

Zx spectrum 128 here as well. Remember taking shocks against its side... and playing Spy Hunter. That was quite a game at the time.

As a very typical french guy, my first computer was a Thomson MO5.

Motorola 6800 controler (not even a real CPU ! ) at 1 Mhz, 32k RAM, 16k ROM with Basic included.
I had almost all the available extensions, tape extension, "light" pen, RAM extension (64k !!!!), two joysticks, a printer and the fabulous 5-1/4" floppy disk unit which came with MS-DOS 1.0.
That was around 1985.

Then nothing for a long period of time.

And my first PC was a AMD 386 DX 40 with 4 MB RAM, like 10 years later.
Current PC 25 years later is an Intel i7 2600K with 16 GB RAM. Some leap forward...
